Those rears are pretty high still!
The fronts are about the same height as SLs (slightly higher):
Although this pics probably useless for you given how low the rear is, makes the can look completely different. It'll show roughly where the front will be.
So if my front sits just a touch higher than yours that will be sweet. You say the rears will be a bit high huh? Would it be wise to get the next lower spring? That would be a superlow yeah?

I still reckon the VU has the best flowing shape I own a VY but I think the VU beats it hands down VYs sharp edges on a rounded body dont work from some angles Jay your VU is awesome wanna swap

Yeah it should be slightly higher than mine, to get it level = spot on, go KHRL-46SL (or superlows) as you said.
VU SS UTE that sits perfect! very nice!:)
Cheers mate, its not too bad, i think ill put super super lows in the front soon though, and compress the back ones 1/2 inch or so...

Got some new Intro Billets, I've still got the black ones, but prefer the look of these for more of a tuff streeter as opposed to the black ones which give a more understated, classy look. Got it sitting a little lower now too, custom made wheels allow for more lowering with better clearances!

Beware, ute looks unreal!! Intro (show wheels) are making some of the best wheels around ay. So are they the Vista?
You've done well, in my opinion these look 100 times better than the previous black rims.
Very jealous mate. Wish i had a lazy 5K for wheels!!
Great choice. So, so stylin!
Nice Wheels mate!! I was waiting to see your choice, which was a good one.

Is the 5k figure a fair estimate for the price of the wheels?

BEWARE
24-10-2006, 08:44 AM
Googers, thanks mate, they are brilliant wheels, my 2nd set, my last were only 17s on another car, but the difference in fit and drivability with these as opposed to off the shelf wheels is huge, no scrubbing or rubbing and its sitting lower than with the black rims!
Thanks Sars!
TimVYSS, they retail for about $1120 a rim, no tyre, some places will squeeze it down to $1050 if you push....so with tyres maybe around $5k depending on what tyres you go with.
But lets just say I didn't pay anywhere near that :)
Thanks for the comments guys, I'm really happy with them too.

I'm running Lovells springs and Monroe gas dampers all round.
The rear springs are HRS-66,but I can't tell you the front springs code number.
It rides very well and isn't so low that I'm scraping the deck over every speed bump.Much better than standard!!! :)

Cheers for all the comments guys.
Also just a query for everyone from Melbourne. I workin Dandenong and will probably get someone around here to do my tune and stuff as i can just drop my car off in the mornin and pick it up that afternoon. Can anyone personally recommend anyone. I've spoken to HP-F (amberley autos) who are just up the road. They seem to know whats what and prices are good. Also had the zorst fitted by Chevs performance, they did an excellent job but tunes are pricey. Any comments and recommendations will be very appreciated.

Hey champ,
ah i cant remember how much the SSSLs are lowered or what the hub-guard is any more.
If you ring Kings they're pretty helpful, i think it was gary i spoke to originally when I was chasing the SSSLs
Also King themselves do custom springs, so it might be worth getting them to make up a set that 1/2 or 1 inch lower than SSSL cause you know they'll be right then.
im pretty sure the SSSLs are already probably close to 5 inches down from standard just by looking anyway.

ohh cheers dude...
i ended up calling them, and they thought that the VR comodore rear SSL's will make it a little lower than the SSSL's would...
They seem to think hub to guard will be around the 290mm mark... i just finished putting them in, and im on about 310mm... its looking alot better...
Finally tucking some tyre geese! Hopefully they will sag some more soon, might go and grab some bags of sand..

Yeah well they're meant to be, but looking at your pics its certainly lower than the SSSLs are! So I dunno whats going on, maybe the ones they gave you are a different part number cause I definitely had the 46SSLs first.

googers: springs are kings SSL's in the front, and in the rear kings SSL (meant for a VR como)... with pedders shocks...
speed bumps are a problem, and steep drive ways need negotiating... but i think its worth it...
VU_SS_UTE: i dont know whats going on with these springs, but its definatly sitting as low as i would want to sit... if i was going to lower it more the front would look higher...

You have to buy a different fuel tank to really dump the crewmans in the rear, as the tail shaft hits if you go too low with the standard fuel tank. Other than that its just piss the bump stops off and get the leafs reset.

Looks great..but how the hell did he get away with that?
Hes got 20 x 10" in the back with 275/35? what the??
I've heaps of trouble with mine scrubbing, and hes is SSL? Man!
Ive got 20 x 9.5" 245/35 in back with Kings SL and it scrubs like a mofo. Got the gaurds rolled and even had to get a panelbeater to cut the whole inner lip down a bit...its dosnt scrub anymore..well just the TINIEST bit.....but hes got wider wheels/tyres and he dosnt have a prob???? Geez whats hes secret?? lol

He has had the gaurds rolled really tight and jacked out too. Removed the plastic inner guards and did a bit of slight moding to the inner guard itself, And sorry the tyres are 275/30/20 not 35 series checked again today. But yes I think offset is the key. Also the part where the bumper bolts on by the mud flap had to ground away abit. Doesnt rub at all he says and he drives the s&*t out of it. Loads it up with stuff too.

yeh he sounds like he did some tinkering with it. I had my gaurds rolled, removed the plastic inner guards and cut the lip in tighter as well. I also took down where the screws go into the 1/4 panel from the rear bumper....it dosnt scrub much, but with some weight in the back its a touch rubbing. I havnt tried to pump out my gaurds at all..heard it looks crappy. But yeh, looks the good though :D

Hey, the 20 x 10's look mad. Stance from the back must look tuff as ay.
So all you guys that've had their guards rolled - Where did you's get them done and was there any repainting involved and if not - did they use the special rolling tool i've seen.
Cheers fellas.

I got mine done at Wholesale Suspension in Penrith NSW. No they only repaint if the paint cracks from rolling incorrectly and not being heated right. Yeh they used their special rolling gizmo on mine. Looks good, nice clean job.

Here is my VY SS S2 Ute which I no longer have.............was a cool ute though.
When I sold it, it had lightweight OZ Racing Rims with Bilstein shocks/struts, Mafless tune, full system with 1 3/4 extractors and CAI.
These pics were taken with less than 200km on the clock the day I picked it up.

Being a passionate fan of Holdens and utes I have just recently purchased a 02 VY Maloo. Now I eager to change the current bonnet to a VZ bonnet with the vents. What is the better bonnet to go with - steel or fibreglass? Are the fibreglass bonnets as reliable as a steel one?

vz bonnets dont have vents, and i think you would have to change the whole front to put a vz bonnet on, guards, front bar,and bonnet,or are you talking a vz monaro bonnet ,they dont just drop on either

You copied the weblink to the photobucket site, not the actual photo.
When looking at a photobucket picture, on the bottom right of the screen is 4 options. Click on the bottom one, it will copy it for you and then just paste that straight in with no need for IMG or URL tags.
