Nice pics mate, but ummm....you did wash all the sand out of your car afterwards hey? I'd hate to see a nice ute like that rust out right before your eyes!

 didnt know sand caused rust! hahaha.
ummm, well yeah i do tend to wash my utes after big trips away (half a dozen per year) , as they tend to get covered inside n out with sand, mud, water, beer, footprints, bonfire ash, twigs & even a tree branch one windy arvo :) Though usually a week after the event, by time i crawl back into city from a w/e away im too tired (read:hungover) to think about washing car.
though that hardly cleans out sand & what not that gets into the undercarriage I guess :) But then i dont get utes to baby them! :)

Just be a bit carefull , these were put on for shannons car show,it was a major pain fitting 15" , they scrapped on the lower suspension arm and we had to modify it ,the brakes had no chance of fitting (standard ones ), we are in the process of fitting some earlier ones . :)

I've already posted my ute in this thread but have since lowered it courtesy of some Kings Springs I purchased through Wholesale Suspension.
It's dropped around 35mm all round and the ride is way better than I expected at that height.
Haven't bottomed out once since having them fitted (approx. 2,000km's) and most of that has been on second rate country roads.
It's paying a visit to Sonny at the end of the month for an OTR, tune and full X-Force system.

Very nice Storm VY, I'm not a fan of the 18inch VE SS rims when they're fitted to VE's but they look great on the VY.

I was thinking something similar, how much more they suited the VY than the VE.

Are there any plans to make it like this

Nah, I;ve gone for the big one with the wings. I think it balances the look of the Maloo with the massive sail planes and tonneau.
It will be lowered, just not sure what springs yet.

the one without the wings is a redesign as after they have been in the sun for a bit, the wings start to lift and distort, l know of one that has had 3 bonnets already, can't wait for mine to do it in summer, NOT!

THe one without wings was released so it can be put on vx y z bonnets as the wing profile is specific to the VE.

It's the genuine hard lid. It looks a bit long becasue it's a spoiler kinda thing. I HATE the non genuine ones that sit about 2 inches higher than standard. They make it look almost like a station wagon!!
The wheels do look a bit drug dealer-ish....will see how they go.

The new VE utes look awesome standard but man those new maloos looks like cats fighting in a wheatbag. Holes all over the place and more lumps than a fat sheila...they did the same with the VT...take a liquid looking shape and then fill it full of 1970's square edge holes. Now guys put even more holes on the front end by putting those stupid vented bonnets or the Walkinshaw bulges on it...reminds me of a woman wearing too much makeup...just totally spoils all the fine lines. Each to their own but all great hotrod builders have one thing in common..."Less is more". They smooth file and liquify all the big bumps and bulges out of a car.
Best looking model in my opinion was the VT Clubsport...big swoopy looking rear end really matched the bodies liquid shape.
In early days they did same thing with HQ....kept adding more edges till they ended up with a shoebox WB. Platform engineering holden called it. Cheapskates more like...lol

Im with them^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ the new maloo looks like it needs a trip to Jenny Craig. Its got way to much plastic hanging off it, looks a little bit like the michellen man should be driving it. I think it would have to almost be scrapping its belly on the ground to make it look as tho its been lowered. Look at the distance from the top of the rear wheel arch to the top of the hardcover it seems to go on forever, but thats just my opinion...........

Its nothing special yet :P but then again i am only 17 and such am not made of countless $$$. Any tips on what you guys reckon should be done and in what order would be great. I myself am interested in Lowering It(Any Tips?), Installing a Stereo(Loud and plenty of Bass, Tips?) and an Exhaust of some type(Sounds mean but doesn't brake the bank). If anyone has any more idea's of what can and should be done please speak up and as you can probably see with the above the cheaper the better :P and anything but the mags and tyres as their expensive :P.

ebay is your friend if you are on a budget, also don't be afraid to do some things yourself. i had a look just then, you could source nearly all of your exhaust system for around a grand. $175 for your catback, $200 for a high flow cat, $450 for extractors, $100ish for freight, $200ish to get fitted. it is hard to make a v6 sound good but as long as its deepish, throaty and not too droney you'll be more than happy.
being an old ute your suspension will be pretty clapped out (unless it has been rebuilt lately). a set of superlow kingsprings are roughly $250 for starters and will set you at a nice practical height. good shocks will cost you $500 a set upwards, also you might be up for a grand just on bushes :eeeeek:.
i know you said mags are expensive but if you are vigilant you'll pick up a set of 18" holden mags (VY SS, VZ SS, VT GTS, CV8, CV8Z etc...) on the cheap. teamed up with a low ride your ute will look awesome in no time. hopefully i've steered you in the right direction or totally confused you lol.

Hey Mark,
Nice ute for your first car! congratulations :goodjob:.
For V6 mods you can't go past King Springs SL, Pacemaker Extractors with a 2.5" exhaust system (even have rear resonator removed for extra noise :)) get a OTRCAI and maybe a tune? those are pretty much the basic mods and won't cost you a shitload. I think for my car that set me back around the 1200$ mark. You can also get some Nolathane bushes all round for a stiffer ride! and maybe some Diff gears. That's all i can think off that is affordable lol:rofl: enjoy the car and let us know how you go.

My Son and I went to Bathurst for the supercheap 1000, IT WAS GREAT.
One of the highlights was getting the engine cover to my ute signed by Skaife and Todd Kelly. Skaife because he is a legend and Todd because he is a fellow maloo driver.

Bit of a favour to ask that is sort of off topic, I'm working on a template for the VE Ute atm and I was wondering if someone could send me the measurements for the length and height of the side skirts off a VE SS???
