The front left rubs every now and then over bumps and dips in the road but nothing too major.
The tail lights are DEPO, you can order them off the net or get a shop to get them in.

Is the only way to post pics on here through a web hosting service?..dammed annoying if it is..hate that way of posting..I have gotten up to page 70 of this thread..and many pics are missing that were hosted..hopefully there is another way..if not..the site needs to be updated to be able to directly upload pics..

Yes, you need to use a hosting service but now that free sites like Photobucket are available pics should only disappear if someone specifically deletes them. Previously people used to use their company servers or someone's private server and then they would often soon be deleted due to lack of space.

There are plenty of forums that allow users to upload pics..has more to do with site coding..nothing to do with money..web hosts go bust all the time..so its in the forums own interests to have the pics on the site..go and check all the early pages of this thread..HEAPS are missing..
It no big deal..just a bit more of a hassle to post pics..

Those forums usually also have either lots of advertising (google type) or charge users a membership fee. As this site is a NFP site we are limited in the way we can raise funds to keep the server running.
Unfortunately it does have a lot more to do with money than coding. To enable hosting it requires no more coding effort than to turn on the option in the software, but someone has to pay for that HUGE increase in bandwidth usage that would come with it.
Were you aware that we once did supply a forum image host, but it was removed due to bandwidth cost blowouts? No?
The early posted images have disappeared because they were posted over 4 years ago, many on the image server supplied and paid for by one of the forum Moderators Haroc. People went overboard with image sizes, hotlinking on other sites etc and costs of running it skyrocketed, so it was closed down.
ps Be nice!
There was nothing in my earlier reply that wasn't nice.
I just don't appreciate it when someone, who has been a member for a relatively short time, comes on and starts commenting about how the site should be run, without knowing anything about the forum financials, what has been tried before and removed etc. in the many years before they joined.
It may be more of a hassle for you to upload to Photobucket and then post the link here, but as I said before, unless you are willing to put up the $$ for the extra bandwidth yourself, that how it has to be.

First off the tone of your replys are not very nice in fact I reckon your a real smart arse. I have used many forums that one can upload pics to that are not full of adds..some may have sponsors..anyway the technicality's behind this are not important ..it is just a fact that some forums like this one use one method and some use another to display pics. The method this site uses.(IMO) is more problematic for users..its all very simple..you getting on you high horse and rabbiting on about me paying for the site to be updated just makes you look a fool..grow up!

No high horse here. You claimed we should allow image hosting for users without really knowing anything about the history of the forum or what we have tried before. I told you what we used to do and why we can no longer do it, and told you what you would need to do (pay for it) if you want hosting on this forum. If stating cold hard facts in responce to an uninformed post is being a smartass then I guess I'm guilty. If you want sugar coating then join a lolly forum 'cause there's not much sugar coating around this place.

Rather than clog this thread up I have just written a small novel under the my ride section which details what I have done to my VE SS Ute in the 14 odd months I have owned it plus I have given my opinion on various bits and pieces I have done.
If you are interested in a heap more pics plus my 'story' the link to my little piece in the My Ride section is http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=75917
A couple of pics for this thread. First pic is after fitting the Lovells gear, second pic stock ride height with 20" wheels and third pic is one of Ziggy's OTRCAI kits

http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn130/sinbad215/VE%20SS%20Ute/IMG_4804.jpg?t=1250779070
I also put links to servers where my pictures are stored at the bottom of my 'novel' in the my ride section. It shows the pictures of my old VY SS and VE SS Sedan and if you look at mainly the Redhot VE SS sedan pics you will see quite a few cheap cosmetic mods which may be of interest to some VE owners. Things like colour coded dash strips, modified L76 factory twin engine covers, boot lid internal cover panel etc.
My hope is that this may be of assistance to those of you who have contemplated doing any of these cosmetic mods but haven't proceeded because they have not seen a picture of what they will look like.
As I said, it is like a small novel in the 'My ride' section but I figure that is what that thread is for. For those who have a read I hope you enjoy it and also consider the comments I have detailed about various suppliers and products.
Cheers
Tony

Yeah mate they did, they are 20/275/35 on the rear.
I shaved the guards back to the spot welds and it fix the prob 99%.
Now it only scrapes with weight in the back when you hit a big bump.
In hindsight i should of opted for 245 or 255's. (looks phat though)

Na this is a mafless tune.
I believe you can still make this power with a maf tune however the HPF intake requires a mafless tune. I went for this as i am planning a cam down the track and that will be beyond the factory maf's capability.
Cant recommend this package highly enough, completely different car to drive. 247kw isnt heaps compared to some cars on here but the bottom end grunt and throttle response is awesome.

Thanks Tony, unfortunately the wheels are only available in 18 and 20"
I went staggered 20x8 and 20x9 and they cost $300/350 respectively.
A word of warning though the 20x9 with a 275 tyre will scrub if the car is lowered.
Give these guys a call as they are the wholesaler (where i actually purchased them from), they will be able to tell you who near you stocks them.

What guys are those you are talking about and do the rears scrub because of the offset of the rim. Are the wheels a similar design to one of the BMW range of wheels as they look familiar to me but I can't place them. Do you know what offset each of the rims are

Yeah mate they actually unbolt the radiator at the top and lean it back using the new bracket that you can see. they dont cut or bend anything so if in the future you want to return to stock you can. im really happy with it.

Heres my ute.2004 VZ SS Redhot in colour.Bought at auction damaged.Had 25,000 kms.Previousowner hit a tree judging from the branches and bark embedded in the battery and engine.
Sorry if photos are out of focus,I was freakin out at the time.Thought I made a grave mistake buyin this. But once all the busted stuff went in the bin, really wasnt that bad,the Caroliner rack pulled it all square again.

http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/1564/dsc04437.jpg
After the factory sealer was re-applied,I painted the inside of engine bay makin sure it looked low-sheen..All parts were bought brand new from Roseberry Holden. That way everything went back together smoothly.
http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/152/nicksssuteenginereadyan.jpg
The worst part was the battery got flattened from impact and sprayed my 5.7 in acid making it go all white and severely stained.Hot pressure wash and careful scrubbing with degreaser minimised the burnt alloy look.
Heres how she looks today.I recently had my workshop logos put on.The colours really stand out,and after a re-map and some mods she goes great.

Ran 13.4@108mph last time at Eastern Creek.I plan to get some diff gears and small converter to improve on the e.t a bit.Its quite heavy weighing 1720kgs..enjoy..Nick

WHAT are BAGS like as far as wheel alignment goes??
can they be used for performance track work ? does the wheel assembly move around anymore with bags then struts ??
is the ride a lot better with bags ??
is the ride height adjustable while you are driving say low for town and high for dirt country roads and any thing in betwwen
or is it just up or down ??

The alignment is set at your legal ride height
The Accuair self leveling keeps it there no matter what load you have
Springs and coil overs won't do this
The ride sits flatter than springs because the rate of the bags climbs quicker than springs
You only have one drive height
There is a raised height for driveways and such but your alignment will change when you raise it
There is also a Kneel setting
The car still has struts and only the spring has been replaced with bags
The shocks used are Bilstien and suitable for performance use

I posted this info about my new seats in the my ride thread but never got around to posting it in the Ute thread. I had the seats fitted a few weeks ago and have received positive comments from those who have seen them. Best thing for me is with my cactus back I now get a lot more side support during 'spirited driving' and in fact the seats are more comfortable overall.
I had the 2 seats done, the door panels and the consol lid. I went for black leather with the perforated black leather on the seat base and back (in the centre section) and had blue stitching used.
As the SS Ute seats don't have SS or anything else embroided on them I wanted to put something on. My Ute is not a HSV so I discarded using the HSV logo and didn't want to use SS as it already has the SS badge on the rear panel under the back window. I decided to use the HRT logo and the trimmer played around with a few colour options and came up with Blue and white which I think looks great.
The beauty of it is as we used my seat frames and bases when I go to sell the Ute I have the option of getting him to remove the HSV foams and replace them with my OEM foams and trim.
I bought the genuine HSV foams off e-bay a while ago. They were advertised as GTS foams but when I told the seller I had a Ute he said he could supply the Maloo foams for me. The only difference is the Maloo does not have the section of foam for the side airbags removed.
Trimming was done by Warren at what was Customline Trimming (now changed name to Global Automotive Specialists) at Sumner Park. When I first went to his shop to check his quality I was pleasantly surprised to find that the majority of his trimming is for new vehicle dealers. I have seen models from Holden, Mazda, Toyota and Audi at his shop so I guess that says his quality is pretty good. I am wrapped with the quality in mine and would say it is better than the VY SS I owned with leather and that was a factory fitted job during production. Overall I couldn’t be happier with the end result

When you combine the look of the 'new' Maloo / GTS seats, the GTS dash cluster and the HSVi GTS leather steering wheel and gear knob it totally transforms the inside of the humble VE SS Ute

Cheers. As well as making the Ute look heaps more up market the seats are so good on the back. If anyone at all has a back problem maybe have a look at this option. I saw a set of foams for a buy it now price of $270 over the last few weeks and some trimming companies even sell covers for these ready made up with instruction quite cheaply.

Like the wheels, what size and brand if you do not mind me asking...also are you sure the sticks are on straight the whole thing looks a little crooked...might be just the camera angle:)
Aussietone :goodjob: interior looks nice.... ive seen SS stitched in to the SS seats in VE,s why didnt yours have it?
VE55UT nice ride buddy...what hard lid have you got there?, is tinting headlights illegal? and are they geniune holden track stripes..ive got a black G8 on order and think matt black track stripes on a black car looks great aswell.

Have you fitted another antenna?

What about the tailgate? what does shaved mean?

The lights look great but I assume they would not be legal. I think the fog ligts would look great finished off the same as the headlights. Is there much involved in doing the lights as I would like to get a very lite tint on my Ute tail lights but want it applied from the inside and not a stick on external job
Cheers

that would be my first guess aswell but just asking has he been pulled over and what did they say about it and yeah the rear tail lights would look goog tinted aswell i think u can get a spray that u spray in the inside of the tail light
