alexcs - what king springs are in yours?

alexcs
13-07-2005, 05:59 AM
King springs

Front: KHPR-19
Rear: KHRL-127SSL

i opted for a slightly stiffer front, but if you prefer a bit softer ride there are less stiff front springs. in an ideal world i would have gotten shortened shocks as well, but dont have the money for that atm.

This is my VY ute. Series 2 M6.

It's got a higgins head and cam package, di fillipo twin 2 1/2" exhaust, 3 inch cats and 1 3/4" 4 into 1 headers, rip shift, vy gts rims, gts engine covers, hsv/ap racing brakes 6 piston fronts and 4 piston rears, lowered on pedders springs.

Just recently put chev badges and grille on it, getting diff gears done soon and might get it lowered a bit more at the back. one day i want to have a stroker in it. :)

My Vs Series III SS ute, HSV Enhanced, my true pride and joy. At the moment this car is very stock and i only have a few small mods planned for it, these are a new exhaust system- pacemaker extractors, high flow cats and 2 1/2 stainless single or dual not sure yet. another mod that is planned is to put the 17inch version of my mags on so it still looks stock. Currently all i have done is put a new stereo in it clarion head unit and clarion 6" in the doors. this was one of the very last versions of this ute to be ever made it was built on November 25th 1999, as it is one of the last i was lucky enough to get the vt engine instead of the vs. It is only just going on to 72000km

so here she is

I got the wheels from the promo vehicle that apparently had these specifically made for it from the company that made the wheels. They are called ATS. 19 x 8. They told me they are the only set in existance and dont damage one as i wont get another.

This is what they told me. i have not seen any like them before but i liked the wheels they had on there ute and asked if i could by them, they said ok and the rest is history.

I am starting to think they may not fit neatly at the headlight

alexcs
19-08-2005, 05:59 AM
yeah my concern is that the piping in the bumper that continues from the cuts in the bonnet will jut out further than the monaro bonnet. the curve may peak over the headlight, by how much im not sure. i believe the only change to the headlight was the internal angle was made more vertical from vy, so it may not be a problem. the more bullnosed bumper may be the problem.

Hi alexc, yes they are 18's. I also had 18's on the vy ute and compared to 17's the ride quality is about the same, with less tyre roll on cornering.

They are BSA 291's. 19x8" Shadow chrome. Tyres are Falken Azenus 245/35/19 and imo they are the best tyre ive ever driven on in the wet!!! Not the cheapest tho. Also chose em cos the style of the tyre was really neat and not too chunky. Had Wanli on there before and they were the worst tyre ive ever driven on!!! UGLY AS HLL TOO!! Really chunky.

Hi guys,

Just to clarify, I am not dissing the fact that there is a ford on the thread, I just think that considering that this is a holden forum I am of the opinion that it should be holden owners only on here. I am sure that i would cop the same treatment if i were to post my car onto the ford forum. The XR6T looks great and your lucky to have a car that looks and goes like your does don't get me wrong but there is a time and a place for everything IMHO.

That's the difference between this forum and FF, no one here minds as we are all car enthusiasts. You will find there have been three Ford utes posted and no one else has questioned thier right to do so. You will also find other threads on Ford perfomance cars that are discussed quite extensively, and openly, with no more than the odd Ford standing joke, as you could expect:D

Steve'sR8
21-01-2006, 03:52 PM
Well said Cat755,

the "opposition" are much more openly discussed on this forum without the narrow minded bogan mentality shown on other forums, which shows that you guys are performance car enthusiasts that drive Holdens, not sheep blindly following a particular brand & criticising other brands with little or no first hand experience to back it up.
For what it's worth guys, well done, it's nice to be able to discuss the good & bad points of all brands without the childish sh1t slinging.

Having said that, there's nothing wrong with a bit of harmless banter between camps as long as long as it doesn't deter people from sensible discussion.

Cheers,
Steve.

ExAreSix

Just to add to the point Cat755 and Steve'sR8 made. You are correct in what you say, when you mention FF.

But not all Ford forums are so one-eyed.

FF I don't frequent much, because of just that reason. It's full of immature mindless Holden bashing, and it shits me no end.

I'm a frequent browser of this forum. I spend 5 times the amount of time here as I do at FF. Because it is worth my time. Contains a wealth of knowledge on LS1/2 and anything by the 'General'. (Hey, I like to keep up with the goings on of the 'enemy') ;)

And on the flip of the coin, not all Holden forums are worth visiting. SC forums are rubbish. One eyed. Full P platers bragging about beating a TX3 off the lights in their fully schick VN. :slap:

And to compare to the Ford forum I do frequent, we had a similar thread to this one. Some of our regular members, who are un-ashamed at showing the Lion on their heart in a Ford forum, posted pics of their rides. It was accepted by 95% of the members partaking in the thread, and the pictures were appreciated.

Keeps up the quality of the forums eh, just like this one.

Anyway, that's my 2c.

Here's another of my Cross8. (I'm only half way to getting the 18 inch wheels on). There's a fair difference in the extra inch, fills the guards out just enough I reckon. Any bigger and I couldn't affor the tyres :( .

I just need to get the Avalanche brakes fitted once the other 4 tyres arrive (this was the spare just to see what it looks like), and then I think I'll stop spending money on it...

Not much in the way of side dumps on them. I saw one in Sydney a Red Maloo about 2 Years ago that turned my head. Was a Gem and a half.

Thanks to you guys (And Girls if there are any) who are posting your pics it is great to see the utes.

Hey BEWARE yeah its bagged Airide technologies in Melbourne great guy great quality kit. I originally bought a kit from Burnin Customs in ueensland they sell Chassis Tech gear my opinon is "DO NOT BUY THIS" it is not legal it cant be engineered it is absolute garbage leaked from day one terrible ride quality $240 extra for a "wiring kit which consisted of a blister pack of alligator clips and a roll of speaker wire. Airides kit came with a proper loom everything marked photographic instructions everything you need in the kit nothing extra to buy. Took half as long to install as the Chassis tech stuff even though I had to pull out that garbage and throw it in the bin. So yes its bagged properly now, only mod was to cut rear spring horns (the locator for the rear coil spring) and bolt in a top plate for reinforcement. Struts just swap staight over run air lines and install compressor, solenoids and tank in tray. Done :D

If i can ask how much did the kit cost and is it fully engineered
what is the ride quality like compared to coils
i have considered this but dont want a crap ride as i use mine as a daily driver and also want to keep it totaly legal

JHP1
29-03-2006, 06:49 AM
Yeah Barcode I had the same concerns Airide in Melbourne are the guys to talk to . Yeah fully engineered ride quality is better than FE2 suspension that I had B4 Naturally if its on its guts it rides hard if you have it pumped to around 50-60 PSI it rides good. Mine is a daily driver trips away up to Hotham last week 4hrs no dramas. Like I said though be careful what you buy there is a lot of garbage out there. Only complaint I would have is when its real low it gets a little washy in the rear its not as firm as when i had super low springs under it. Kit cost me around $3000 plus engineering plus install if you cant do it your self. Takes a weekend to install in between a few beers fairly easy really. Hope this Helps

Yeah cop a lot from other tradies you know that old chestnut "Geez you must charge heaps!" Gives me the S#ITS "No its just that I work 7 days a week and I get called out to work any hour of the day or night dips#it". The main reason I did the bags was cause I work at old farmhouses and stuff just blow it up easy as. Used to have real low springs, actually the ones in the stato now, used to scrape on everything they seem ok on the stato but. Not having extractors and the 20's probably help. But thanks again thats why we build these things isnt it. :yup:

got mine dumped down today....20s only just rubbed on the rear, so left them all off, but was all setup for them to go straight back on, but I may wind the front down a little more yet....get the audio done next week, then goes to panel shop for rolling and then 20s can go on!!!

Few pics....one of the 20s(black/chrome lip) for something a little different on an SS ute, bit of dish aswell and one with the neighbours GTO!!

Heres a couple of pics of my baby.
Shes a 04 VZ R8 Maloo. Completely standard and never to be modified as ive bought it as a collectors thing and want to keep it original.
She ran 238rwkw on the dyno. She just comes out for shows and cruises.

BAWARE,

I Think your new Thunder ute looks awsome. I'm waiting on delivery on a silver SS Thunder later in the month. I can't wait. l was just wondering what you did with the suspension, whats springs etc. I'm looking at a ride height just like yours?

I got Pedders coilovers in the front, and Pedders springs in the rear(the lowest they do off the shelf)...rides really nice on the stockos too...dunno about when the 20s go on though!
