View Full Version : Helmet standard for the drags
Does anyone know what Australian Standard your helmet needs to meet before you can use it at the drags, or any motorsport event.
I ask because my dirt bike helmet is 13 years old and dont know if the AS has been updated since then.

for cams events, the age limit is 10 years, Some Moto Cross type helmets are also not permitted. Not sure what the Andra requirements are but i do know they have a longer life span for helmets

Trying to understand the above - does it mean that if I am driving a 13 second car at the LS1 Nationals I need a full face helmet? Or can I wear an open face that meets the standards in the last section
Thanks for the info guys, i went out and bought a new helmet yesterday.

I would check with the Tuna
Those are the regulations for andra sanctioned events, I think you will be fine with your open face
Checked with Tuna and then Heathcote themselves
They said they have no helmet standards* other than it not should not be cracked and that open faced helmets are fine
*Before there is a flurry of comments about bike, cricket, softball, horse racing helmets or plastic basins tied on with a piece of string type head protection this still means motor vehicle / motorcyle crash helmets
