Hi Ken,
in the latest Hot Tuners issue of Motor Magazine, the blown silver CV8 is wearing 18 x 9.5 rims which are allegedly left overs from the Targa Tasmania Monaro. They are similar to VYSS rims but look like 3 piece construction.
Are there any plans to release these wheels to us mere mortals, and if so price?

We did a run of about 20 wheels, most for the Targa cars and a set for each of the two Harrop cars.
There is nothing stopping us making more ... except the cost! We would love to sell lots of them, but in limited runs they work out to about $1000 per rim and there is not much demand at that price. :(
They are actually a two-peice rim, the outer (visible) part is die-cast and the inner spinning is a heat-treated high strength aluminium. Strong an light ...
If there was enough interest to do a "group buy", we could do an LS1 Forum deal ???

We did have them on the '03 Targa cars ... but they also had some ROH on at an early stage.
These are similar in style to the '03 SS.

Are these the same as the ones we saw on a red SS at SummerNats?
They appeared stock untill you looked closer.

When will the Red SS or your car be on display next to have a look at these wheels and other goodies you may have?

The Monaro is my daily drive ... so it is at the factory in Preston almost every day (except when I'm out "testing" (playing)).
The Red SS is usually in Epping at Monaro Performance Centre, but will be at Preston Wednesday/Thursday before going to the show in Aubury.
Give Damian or I a call to confirm a time, but usually anytime is OK. (9474-0900).

Ken: what mods were required to fit 9.5" rims? (rolled guards, flared panels?)

When I was at Harrop today for a ride in the grunter Red SS, I checked the wheels on both the SS and Ken's Monaro.
Apart from the usual rolling of the guard lip, there did not appear to be any other mods.
The Red SS is really low and I did not notice any rubbing while being plastered into the seat under power and eyeballs popped under braking.
I need to go and lay down now for a while....... :D

All I did on the Monaro was gently roll the lip under the wheel arch on the rear ... didn't touch the front, but the fronts run very close to the strut.
I would not asume all 18x9.5's will fit ... it depends on the offset.

Eventually ... they can be seen here ... (http://www.haroc.1337thing.com/ls1/Harrop/050411a_Wheel_18x9-5_265-18-40.jpg)

What it is the Weight saving from a VYSS 18 rim to your rims
What it is the Weight saving from a VYSS 18 rim to your rims
I don't know about the VYSS, but the '02 Monaro 18"x8"rims weigh 13.5kg.
Our 'Targa' 18"x9.5" rims weigh ~14kg, as they were designed to withstand Brocky hitting potholes/kerbs at warp speed with 60psi in the bags, and still survive.
i might be interested a group ls1.com.au buy... anyone else after some nice solid track rims?
