Just a quick question, what do you guys reckon the rwkws would be on a VU SS M6 with 4-1 exhaust 2.5 inch cat back, CAI, ported throttle body, cam (228 230 112 lobe sep.), 3.9 gears and a mafless tune?

Cheers

I'd say you would be around the 265 - 280 rwkw mark

Hi,
Shit if you've only got 243rwkw after that there is something very wrong, you should be able to get those figures after only an exhaust upgrade and ls1 edit.
With that cam and other bits you've done you should expect a good 275 280rwkw .......
cheers.........

I've got a VU SS nearly the same as you (2.5 twins/CAI/4-2-1 headers) but without a tune and I got 214rwkw. That means a mafless tune and cam would get me 29rwkw??? sheez don't think i'll get a tune (or a cam) :p

On a serious note. Something sound serously wrong? Hate to say it, but it does have a cam right?

Well, for example, a well known little red car has roughly the same spec but with A4, and stally and he makes 253rwkw. But, it isn't the size of the dyno sheet that matters it is how much it has in the middle of the range and how well it goes on the road. As I said in another post today, that same car used to run 12.2 with only 219rwkw, and now with 253 rwkw it does 11.9...doesn't seem that much of an improvement. Also, by comparison there is another well known red car up here that has the best part of 600rwkw, and he only manages mid 12's...so work that out...;)

Yeah, put it in myself, i thought it was a bit low but the guy spent ages tunin it so its got me confused

i think i might just get it dynoed on another one and see what it pulls, hopefully the dyno had a bad day, if its possible....

But i will have to see what it does on the qtr

who cares how many rwkw you have. It it performs how you want it to then it shouldnt matter.

i know it shouldnt matter, but on the same dyno with only the exhaust, it pulled 204rwkw......

i would say 34kw aint bad for just a mild cam.

I'd settle for your 1/4 mile trap speed *mph*.this will give you an excellent indication of true power-output while allowing for some small degree of driver error...not being rude but the M6 can require more than a little experince to muster over the quarter mile :)
There's a black cammed VY Berlina in ole Sydney town that is putting out the exact same 243rwkw...this car is also knocking on the door of 11's....

EDIT: the BIG red car has now run 11.7 at 127mph with plenty more to come :)

Oops I didn't read that. Thought you had changed your car to a BIG red car after the new cam a little while ago

Yeah, maybe...but my point is, 34kw on the rollers doesn't translate into a huge amount on the strip, especially when you factor in a cost/kw factor at that level....So, in short, don't get dazzled by the numbers on the dyno sheet...the only numbers that count are on the time slip..;)
