Does anyone have a suggestion or solution to mount a DV camera in the cabin of my ute for some in car footage?

make up a two piece bracket that clamps around the two bars of the passenger seat head rest. Works a treat. I am sure someone will have a photo to help you out.

try a pm to Tre-Cool. I know he has a VY ute and he purchased a mounting bracket to do what you want to do. He may be able to give you some tips.

Be careful - if the cops catch you doing anything illegal they can confiscate the tape for evidence.

They have done it to a number of riders I know with tank mounted cameras

get a limpet camera mount, perfect for the back window on the ute

I bought one of these, a Manfrotto 241 (without brace).: click here (http://www.manfrotto.com/product/search_result.php3?sku_search=241v&bogen_sku_search=&name_search=&description_search=&submit.x=0&submit.y=0). Click on the "where to buy" & I'm sure you will be able to track one down relatively local to you.

About $230 with x-y-z axis double ball adjustment. You will need this double ball adjustment. Otherwise the mount is too close to the window & the camera won't point where you want it to. They work a treat. Bought mine from a place up here in Sydney (Taren Point).

From the footage I have been able to record, they're worth their weight in Gold! :D

If your handy with metal you could just make your own mount. i'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to either find something to make one out of or just weld one up yourself. Even get a tripod and strap it around the passenger seat to hole it in place on the seat.

This might give you some ideas also on something else a workmate of mine did in his car.

Pm Chilly. He has been taking videos in his car for quite a while and the method he uses is very clever and cheap.

I'd be very interested to know on what basis they confiscated the camera. You'll probably find they actually talked the owner into giving it to them.

Given the camera isn't an illegal piece of apparatus, (like a radar detector for example) and is private property, it's my understanding there is no power of siezure without a warrant. I'll be making a phone call to confirm this on Monday.

Tre-Cool has a Stickpod. From memory he purchased it from the states.

Very clever and simple! I'll have to give that a try also.

Not only simple but looks pretty damn cheap to make. Wonder if you get any vibrations out of the seat moving?

I'm pretty sure markone2 used this set-up in a run down the blacktop some time ago, there was no vibrations if I remember correctly, in fact, it was steady as :)
PM chilly or markone2 about any rubber/foam supports they might of used (if any?)

I recommend the use of the Stickypod Pro. as it is Very versatile, can be mounted inside the cab or outside on the body. I tested mine upto 200km/h with it mounted outside of car and about 255 inside accross the nullarbor.

Here's some vid's i made with it.
200km/h Outside (http://www.vyssute.com/downloads/stickypod-web.avi) 5meg

Inside (http://www.vyssute.com/downloads/High-Speed.avi) 14meg

My Favourite (http://www.vyssute.com/downloads/Twisty-bb.wmv) 65meg -I must say guys i do miss that road to Mackay. :D

I also have a recording of me doing a few laps around bathurst, but been to slack to record off to the pc.
