I was flipping through channels last weekend and came across the "Bright Ideas" show on channel 10 and they had this interesting product that they were showing. It's called XADO revitalizant gel for petrol engines new and used. Apparently you add this gel to your oil and it's major results of the treatment are:
rubbing parts are reconditioned and protected against wear;
restored geometry of the parts;
reduces petrol fuel consumption at idle up to 30% and up to 5% during driving;
oil pressure increasing;
equalizing and increasing of compression in the cylinders (up to 42.5%) ;
engine power and torque approaches up to 100%;
reduction of noise and vibration by 10 times;
possibility of operation (up to 187 miles (300 km)) after an accidental oil leakage;
reduction in CO and CH contents in the exhausts by 2-10 times.
ten fold decrease in concentration of CO and CH in exhaust (purification efficiency for CO is up to 24%, for CH up to 88%);
reduce friction coefficient up to 300 times
Summed up its like heart surgery for your engine.
There's tons of info listed on their website: www.xadoshop.com.au
They have heaps of other products like Xado for gearboxes, steering pumps, cylinders etc
To do a full treatment on the engine you need the tube of this gel which you can get a set of for around $180 (incl. GST and postage). Im thinking about picking up a set because if it does work then it will be a must to keep our beasts happy and in good condition, but i was wondering if anyone else has already tried this gel and what their results were like?
Thanks

geez I guess there will be a lot of out of work mechanics soon with this new wonder additive. Seriously though mate, keep your money and dont go anywhere near anything that claims to cure all mechanical woes simply by pouring a bottle into engine/trans/diff, they will do more harm than good, especially transmission and power steering. I am sure you will get many an interesting response to this thread. :)

If it sounds too good to be true, then it usually is.
They called this stuff snake oil in the 1800's, now it's called Xado. :lol:
Any independently verified tests to back up their sales spiel?no?
Save your $ and change your car's fluids as spec and use quality oils etc.

V8 Maniac - Bright Ideas is 100% advertorial. They do NO editorial checking for accuracy at all. As an IT person I often laugh myself silly at the some of the claims they make when they're pushing IT products so it will be same for Auto bits. This just sounds like all the other Teflon additives that supposedly fill in the cracks and scratches in your cylinders.
Additives like this have been tested many times and always proven to be rubbish. Just make sure you have a good quality oil and you'll get as good protection as is possible to get from a lubricant.
- rubbing parts cannot get reconditioned by a lubricant of any sort
- geometry of components can never be changed by a lubricant
- fuel consumption improvements are regular targets for snake-oil products
- if you add gunk to your oil then yes the oil pressure will increase
- equalising pressure in cylinders :eek: That's BS. NOTHING can intelligently work out what the different cylinder pressures are and correct them - short of a person.
- How can power and torque reach 100%? 100% of what - efficiency? Not a chance.
- 1/10th the NVH - given that most of the engine noise is due to the fuel combustion rather than the noise of pistons going up and down then that's simply more BS. It just gets funnier and more unbelievable.
- 300k after an oil failure - maybe/maybe not, depends on the engine
- massive reduction in emissions - BS. If the product really worked then you'd burn less oil but you'd still get emissions from the fuel
- 1/300th the friction. I'd say that's based on Teflon/Teflon vs Metal/Metal which might be true for basic metals but ignores the fact that these products aren't shown to adhere to the cylinder linings and also ignores the fact that manufacturers used very hard cylinder facings and rings that already have very low friction.
If you really want to use these sorts of products then look at the Nulon products - at least you know they've been around for a while. Some of their products may even work as intended.
I'd also reiterate the "if it sounds too good to be true, then it most probably is" mantra.

I have my doubts about this product aswell but i had another look at their site and they have independent testimonials from redline performance, Independent investigations made by the research centers ("HADI" and "HAI", Kharkov, Ukraine; "MAMI", Moscow, Russia).
They also state that you can bring your car to one of their service centres were they will diagnose your car and help to find a real cause of defects in your car operating, and treat your car. There you receive a warranty coupon. They guarantee the stability of the performance improved for a year at any mileage.
Wont hurt to check their service centre out.

I like steel bridges. How much :D
I always get a laugh out of testimonials too. The more testimonials, the more dodgy the product IMHO.

Those claims are a bit over the top!!
Recondition parts?? RESTORE geometry?? HA HA HA HA!
If u like oil additives I find Nulon is good for use in healthy engines for protection against wear - not repairing it.
I have used it for 17 years and will continue to. :D
