higher that the reg. can be read to be for whats avaiable for that model from the factory.

so your in trouble for olders model cars that had small wheels standard. VT came with 17 from factory on SS so 19's ok

You know, if this is true then I can't see much logic to it.

Suspension wise, there's no difference to my VY SV8 that comes standard with 17" wheels and a VY SS that comes standard with 18" wheels.

So, does that mean I'm limited to 19" but the SS owner can go to 20" ??

(Not that I'd want to go beyond 19.... I'd be running on rubber bands at that.)

My understanding was it was only 1" bigger in Diameter and 1" wider than standard fitment.

Asked a similar question when at a tyre dealer the other day and he intimated that I could not fit a tyre and rim combination that was any higher overall than the original combination fitted from factory by 15cm. Width was not a problem so long as it did not come in contact with the vehicle or protrude outside the line of the vehicle.

see the thing i don't get is, My car is a Holden VT commodore - Exectutive the stock size wheel on that car is 15 inchs, but the car looks identical to a Clubsport so how are they to know without a in depth look that the car didn't have 17inchs as the stock size and that there is no problem with me having 19 inchs.

That's how it works, the VT SS had 17" stock so you can go to 19" with no problems, any car in the same model range is the regulation - at least it is in Victoria, I did find it on a Vicroads website somewhere so I'm sure with the right search you could find it with google :)

i also have a vt2 exec with 19" mags. u need to have the correct load rating on the tyre too. the coppers can get ya for that. also (technically) & prob help with insurance purposes, u shud get a engineer report & update ur tyre plackard to accomodate the 19" rims & tyres. then if the coppers hassle u about the wheels, u can politely tell them where to go.

Hey Qwerty23

These links will point you to all you need to know
All Vehicle standards: http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/downloads/vsi/vsi_dl1.html

Wheel Specific: http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/downloads/vsi/vsi09_rev4.pdf

Main things to check are

Load Rating must be equal or better than standard wheels
Width no more than 26mm wider than the Largest Option size from the manufacturer
Outside diameter of wheel/tyre combination

Hope this helps
