What is a better buy in the long run as well as a better car?
I have seen these two cars go for the same price with similar Ks, all under 100K meaning still under warranty so if the piston slap comes up, it will be ok.
Comments?

My comment - the warranty ends after 3 years even if 100,000 km has not been covered.

VXII has the revised rear suspension and realistically probably has as much fruit as the VT Clubby anyway.

It's the usual response, but I'm going to say it anyway - take them both for a drive and compare the differences.
Seats are probably better in Clubbie, has more power (standard) and I still think they look better than a VX SS. But the VXII does have the rear suspension links, and a couple more years of Holden development.

Go the VTII - better looking car and better equipment. The VX no longer scores points for being newish, so there's little difference between the two in that respect.

Yeah I'd just enjoy washing the clubby a whole heap more, and the VTII just seems like a collectable (unlike the pig ugly VX clubbies).

Exactly ! Nothing wrong with em. Great looking cars. In my case it is only the driver that is ugly.....make that fugly !
Don't go dissin' the VX Clubbie - us owners are sensitive types. :box:

I much prefer the front of a VX clubbie to a VT, the VT looks bit fat from the front, I like the cut up lines the VX has, reminds me of my cuts near my abs haha! :D
But the back of the VT clubby would have to be the sexiest looking ass, much better looking than a VX.

The VT vs VX debate deserves a separate thread. But the VX these days looks wrong.
My point is that the VT HSV (and even the VT SS) is a beautiful piece of machinery and is very collectible while the VX SS is a great car but unfortunately overshadowed by newer versions of the SS.
Everyone sees it different I suppose.

Are we comparing a Clubby or R8 Clubby with the VX SS ?
If its an R8 then go the VT2 if its not then pick the one you like the look of more.
cheers

Thats debatable! IMO the VX SS body kit craps all over VT SS due to the front and the back... (no pun intended)
VT SS is a nice looking car but IMO VX SS has those details that just make it look sexier!
LETS START A WAR haha :)
VX SS Had a more refined interior, also had revised side impact by increasing safety by 50% in a side on collision compared to a VT. Thats bonus points for anyone. VX SS will have cheaper insurance then a HSV, less likely to get stolen or scratched by jealous punks. :bash:
Plus the VX series 2 had the first revised update on the LS1 in terms of piston slap and oil consumption and dont forget it also has the LS6 manifold as well. :D Heaps more things in a VX SS over the clubbie, specially the series 2. I like the head lights inner shadow, makes the car looks mean. Also the newer the holden, the more refined as holden had only just introduced computer designing and editing of the cars with the VT and thus as time went by it became alot more sophisticated every year and made a better car. Well im bias cause ive got a VX SS 2 but i love it to death!

The VTII Clubsport is a nice looking car. Not sure if it has the camber kit, if it doesn't it's proably worth spending the extra $500 to improve handling. The I always thought the VT looked better than the VX.
I would pick a VY SV8 over a VXII SS. An SV8 with 60,000 km can be picked up anywhere between 25 - 30K.

I upgraded from my VXSS to VTR8 and the only mistake is laying off the mods with this one.
The VT looks much better, and the difference between the two is minimal (i do miss the cup holders though)

just my 2c worth. i'd go the vt clubbie. its a sexy lookin car, the roundness of it. i dont like the creases & edges & corners that the vx introduced in its bumpers....& i dislike the vy-vz even more.
Im sure I will have a few who dont agree but I think the VT clubby is the best looking of any of the VT onwards models of both holdens or HSV's. It's lines are sleek and subtle and not overdone. I do like the new range but a well maintained VT11 R8 (in black or silver!) does it for me........and thats coming from a VX clubby owner :D

Personally, I'd actually go the VXII SS in preference to a VT R8 or a VY SV8/SS for that matter, and then spend a little to make up for any performance difference that might exist. A VX SS with exhaust, edit and maybe a diff change would have to be excellent bang for buck in anyone's terms.
But then, I happen to think that a VX SS in black is one of the finest looking cars Holden ever produced, especially that mean looking front end. The only thing I would note is that it needs the leather interior, because the standard cloth trim does look pretty plain in the non-hero colour cars (I think it's basically grey and black trim in the white, black and silver cars, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong).

No Mate Nearly right. Correct with White & quicksilver. But Black is a different Story I uster have a Phantom Black VXSS series1 & I had cloth trim it was Black & Red with Red dash cluster looked pretty sexy :D

With the VX SS II you might still get factory warranty, and then you can complain just about with everything and get it changed over brand new....I done it with my diff and gear knob and boot....KD in Sunshine rocks.
The only bad thing the VX Clubby has over the VT clubby is the price difference....my arse is sexy.

Ah right, didn't know that. With black and red trim it would actually look very good. I really dislike the plain black and grey trim, it looks cheap.
