I have been thinking for a while as to which car I want to get next either a monaro or a XR6T.
Both cars are fairly commoin around here and I luv the interior on the monaro but the exterior looks fairly plain to me!
The Xr6 T might look good go very well when modded etc but the amount of money you loose on a car when buying them new seems to be a lot.
Another car which I never really noticed much until now is the HSV clubsport, I like the look of the 2002 model in the tungsten colour, very nice and you cabt go past the sound of the V8, if I get bored with it I could always wack on a supercharger for extra performance I guess.
I have been told by a local perth dealer that I should be able to pick one up for between $35000 and $38000 with low Kms and 6 spd manual.
Does this price sound about right?

Yeah sure does. The thing you need to consider with monaros is that they are no longer being made. So they might actually hold their value in the long run more so than a Clubby and definately more than XR6T.

Pass on the monaro, I would like a ute but will settle for a boot as long as the rest of the car looks nice.
Nearly all cars depreciate in value but nothing worse than a new car, so I would settle for something second hand with about 50k on the clock although less K's would be nice.

Interesting....
I see you mentioned, HSV, Ute and supercharger.
I just saw a very neat looking Red VX Maloo at Barry Robertson Holden at Wyong (NSW). Popped the bonnet and 'hello' Mr Supercharger. (CAPA unit)
The saleman was talking in the $40k mark.
Probably a tad high....but you may be able to haggle....damn long way from Kalgoorlie though, but the trip back would be....er...fun :driving:

the monaro looks ok but very sleek, I would prefer something a bit bulkier.
Looking at some opf the cars for sale over east I dont think I will be stressing about the drive back or even transporting a car back, I spoke to a couple of the holden dealers in perth today and I was told if I wanted a 2002 clubsport I would have to wait in line. I then checked out carsales, carpoint etc and there was heaps available.
