I am rotating the wheels on my CV SII (same side front <> rear)

When putting the wheels back on the hubs - they dont locate easily on the studs and take a bit of juggling to get them close to located properly. Is this normal?

I assume there is no paricular way they have to go on and that they will locate properly when the wheel nuts are tighted

Sorry if this a dumb question but I've never done it myself before and want to make sure I have done it safely

Also is it possible that rotating the wheels could put the steering wheel a few degrees of centre?

Quick replies would be good as its on the jack at the moment

Cheers

Once you have all the nuts on pull the wheel back towards you to locate the rim on the taper of the nut. i find thats the easiest way to make sure the rim will torque up square, and yes they can be a bit tight on the hub.

rotating your tyres may cause the vehicle to track as the tyres may have worn unevenly try and get an alignment done as well, its worth it in the long run.

I couldn't believe how hard it was the first time I went to rotate my wheels.
The bloody wheels just would NOT come off.
I had to undo the nuts, then using a rubber mallet, tap around the inside of the tyres in order to get them loose so they could be pulled away from the studs.

The first time I had a flat I had to call Holden assist to get it off for me. He told me to put a bit of grease on the hub before putting the wheels back on to stop this in future. He said it was caused by the alloy wheels on a steel hub causes them to lock on.
Hope this saves you some banging with a mallet in the future.

the same thing happened with the family wagon. I never have a problem with the vh, but the vs seems to stick a bit.

got thinking about it and decided it is cos my driving technique is very different to mum and dad's and i go through more tyres than them!!!
