Engine Oil change facts

Is it important to change the engine oil on a time basis,eg;six monthly....,or just wait untill you have driven the 10,000 kms?
I live quite close to work,and would probably take 12 months to get to 10,000kms.
What do most of you do??

I do mine every 5000KM without fail. If you are doing the aussie average then 10,000 should be fine but if you are only doing low KM tho i'd do it every 5000KM. Cheap insurance IMO.

Change oil every 5000kms. Also get a wheel alignment done too.

I wouldn't leave it for 12 months, as oil breaks down
over time. I change 6 monthly or 5k whatever comes
first.

Yelp I would tend to agree, every 5000k's is next best option so every 6 months in your case. Oil does break down, even fully syn so its worth while not to take any shortcuts. You will also find that if you are doing short trips, your oil doesn't reach operating temp hense oil does break down quicker. Thats what Mobil was going on about to me when I last spoke to them in regards to simular topic

Same as above, I do mine every 5k. Fresh oil is cheap insurance. I buy in bulk (filters and oil) and it costs less.

Yeah especially stop and go traffic is a killer.Mine gets oil every 5000 and that's with full synthetic.
Might seem like overkill but I sleep easier.
My diff oil gets changed every 10 k also.

every 5000 kms for me, Short Distance driving to work.

Oil and Filter.

Car doesnt even fully warm up.

but its pretty black by the 5000km mark. engine is spotless though
