After years of wistfully dreaming about the day I would finaly be a proud owner of an LS1 I am happy to say that it has finally happened. I have recently bought my first clubby: a VT2 Clubsport R8. I still can't stop smiling every time I start it up. It truly is a beautiful machine.

And now that I've spent many an evening admiring the car in my garage, it's time to start looking at getting it upgraded. But where to start? I thought that I'd consult this forum for a pointer in the right direction. I'd like to find a Melbourne workshop that know's it's stuff with LS1s that has a good reputation. Ideally I'd like to find someone I can trust to map out an upgrade plan for the next 6 months.

Can anyone please help?

You will always be advised to use the search function, but I must say there is information overload if you are not sure what you are searching for. I can give you my experience when I bought my first VX R8, I searched and received some great advice from the forum members and then looked at the sponsers. I do not know of anyone in your area, but I went to F1 performance in Blackburn and could not be happier with their recommendations, price and support. I then bought a VY11 R8 and took that to F1. If anything give them a ring, talk to Steve, you will see what I mean. If you want information as to what I did to mine PM me.

Well done bloke.

I love my R8 to bits.

I recommend that you go and see Phonsy Mullan at GM motorsport in Melton. My R8 is presently there at the moment. He has both the dyno numbers and the 1/4 mile times at the track to back up his work, plus he is a nice guy to deal with.

Best of luck and enjoy. :)

Congratulations mate.
Doesn't take long for the modification bug to bite does it? My crewy has just clocked 4000kms and I'm getting itchy wallet fingers already.LS1 owners in the capital cities dont realise how lucky they are when it comes to tuning shops (especially sponsors) as it is still a performance wilderness up here.

BY the way, cool username Mr Christopher :D

Cheers

Chris.

Thanks for your help guys. Much appreciated. I have called Phonsy and I'll take it into him shortly.

And CSV_LS1, it's bright red and yeah...those sprinkers are a REAL pain. Certainly no powering through the roundabouts with them on!

A twin Turbo stroker is a good entry level mod. ;)

I can only reinforce what others have said. Call the sponsors in your area, describe what you want the car to do (rather than how they should do it ;) ) and pick whichever one sounds comfortable. I doubt you could go wrong with either of the sponsors from Melbourne.

Congratulatuions on the R8!!-A bit different from my first V8,which was a 1948 Ford!-Hope you'll keep us posted on your mods, particularly before & after dyno figures as you "progress" & spend!!! Cheers,Pickles.

Here is your to do list buddy: :D

-Upgraded brakes (disregard this if you have the HSV/Harrop 4 piston setup)

-Full exaust, I reccomend HM headers, make sure their twin.

-Replace diff ratio to 3.46 for fuel economy, if you dont care about that go the 3.71 or 3.91 for total fuel burning and pleasure

-Ls1 Edit straight after, I reccomend Electronic Automotive in Epping. Tim will look after you and give you the most accurate reading. Hopefully you'll get 220rkw and above.

-Monaro Headlights!!!! Trust me the VT headlights are no good ;)

Word of advice... Dont do what some people do and start changing things like Rims, putting stripes, scoops, rear monaro lights (yuck). Leave it the way
it is!!!!!!
