k guys ive got a few questions for ya.
what is the standard diff ratio on a vx ss?would going to a higher ratio help me with economy if i do a bit of highway bit of town.probably edging a bit more towards the town style of driving.
what style/ type of exhaust would be best for this car if i want a really grunty note to it as well as improved bottom/midrange torque?
(twin 2.5 inch system with pacemaker 1 and 5 8th primaries(4 into 1s))an should i just get a single muffler at the back or do u think twin mufflers like on most aftermarket exhausts have are the go.do hi flow cats really help.if so what size cats, 3 inch?
in a maffless tune is this a tune that doesnt incorporate the maf sensor.is this the same sensor as the airflow meter. i know this improves power quite a bit but how does it go with economy.
and i want to fit 19inch wheels.what would be the best size to lower my carso that it sits nice and low.i was thinking 3 inch lowered springs.any got a set of these b4?
thanks guy.by the way if i seem like a bit of a novice yeah i am, fuel injection is kinda new to me.carbie man b4 now

GTR there is a little tab on the top right hand corner it says search please use it.
As for the questions Diff=3.45 in a manual 3.9's are the best for what you want.
Mafless tune there isnt that much more power in it at all it's just a differnt type of tune one of its best advantages is being able to run a OTRCAI
(over the radiator cold air intake)
Lowering your car 3'' will look good but will kill your drivability as ever bump you hit there goes your zaust.
There are so many exhaust out there its not funny the most common is a twin 2.5" system with straight through muflers and a set of either try-y's or 4>1's its realy your call.
Hope it helps

gtr355, Welcome to the forum!
The search function will answer all your questions - PAGES of info about these topics.
As a rule of them steer away from some of the common aftermarket induction gear. Unless your after more than 250rwkw what you have is already the best.
DONT mess with your MAF (unless you get a MAFless tune) and leave the throttle body alone as well, the stock standard stuff is prety good.
Search for MAFless, Monaro CAI, etc etc and READ....
Most cars see slightly better than stock economy after these basic mods, although the tendancy to enjoy your newfound grunt may affect that...... :-)
SEARCH - You will save your self ALOT of money and heartache!
Enjoy the forum!!!

More research required....the direction your heading will lead to much heartache and :bawl: with your hard earned money...
Research one...SS Inductions air intake
Research two...Edit tune
What you outlay for a SS TB and SS cai will pay for an edit tune which will provide substantial benefits over and above the fore-mentioned mods

thing is i plan to do the tune as well.but i wanna fix up the induction a bit first.my mate has this done and i noticed the difference a heap.with a tune and decent exhaust the thing would have to pull 220 rwkw wouldnt it?

not much point asking for advice if you don't intend to consider it.......MANY people here tried that particular brand of product and LOST power. The Monaro CAI is regarded as one of the best bang for buck mods going, especially if the "two hole" mod, and full exhaust and a tune accompany it.
230 - 240 rwkw is around the mark with these mods.......

Easily available would be the Monaro CAI.....
Harder to get hold of but slightly better is the HSV version which is enclosed and sealed better.
Monaro setup over the counter is about $40 bucks complete I think. HEAPS of info on here about it.....
SEARCH and ye shall find!!

ok after doing a bit of research i came acroos the sureflow style cai.how do these rate compared to the monaro style.does the sureflo one neglect the use of the airlow meter.is that what is ment by mafless?does this make it redundant as long as the car has a mafless tune?

I don't know about everyone else, my car sits over the rear rim, and my rides perfect. Not low enough though. I guess its gone down about 5 inches so far.

 Mark...You don't often say much but it's usually sussinct and straight to the point... Yes, what Mark has posted is spot-on..:)
mate my ute made 225 rwkw with the 2 hole mod to the airbox and headers and exhaust, dont waste your money on the ss inductions stuff.

There is a reason why they are commonly called "SS Reductions". Historically quality has been poor and platics MAF pipes kept cracking.
How much money u got to burn?
