Hi Guys
This is only my first post on here. Im a newbie !
Im taking delivery of my VZ Storm next week.
Whats your thoughts on wheel lock nuts.........
Are they needed these days given that a majority of cars have alloys as standard?
I was thinking of just going to Repco (or similar) to get a set. It crossed my mind that if i got the Holden ones that everyman and his dog would have the same tool/key and be able to pinch my wheels if they wanted. Where a Repco set would be less popular and less likely that someone would have the same tool to fit.
Maybe i'm paranoid as i dont normally park in deserted places at night, but i will kick myself if i lost the wheels !
cheers to all
Rod

Congratulations on the new car, you will love it!
What colour and is it manual/auto?
The Holden ones are not all keyed the same.
I purchased the Holden ones last week for about $45, even got black caps to match the existing ones.

Thanks for the fast replys guys.
I just did a seach and found some other older info and tried to edit my orig post, but it was too late :( sorry !
I think i'll wait until i get it and see what they look like in terms of covers/colours ETC
Looks like maybe a Holden set and a aftermarket set might be the way to go for best security. The Storm has VYII SV8 wheels that might be more sort after by crooks than standard S pack wheels.
Cashie:
Its a V6 silver, six spd manual.
Im getting tints, front nudge bar, 1600kg tow pack and a few floor tie down points.
I will prob get a Blueys rubber mat straight away and then look at a hard lid in the next month or so. I just want to make sure that a hard lid is what i really want b4 committing. Its only a commuting car but i want some dry and safe storage.
hmmm might need floor mats too....... more $$$

Hi Rod,
Picked up my ute last week, also a manual.
I am loving it, it pulls surprisingly well and I think it sounds ok. (contrary to media reports).
I traded my BA XR8 Ute in on it and I am having more fun with the V6, only thing I miss is the V8 rumble!
I have fitted:
- Mats
- Plastic tray liner
- Strut Brace
- Front lower grill
- Window Tint
- Lock Nuts
Have fun and post pics when you get it.
Also, IMHO you may find the S wheels may be more sort after as they are used on, SV6, SV8 and S, which means they could be in higher demand than your rarer wheels......

Do not bother with the holden locknuts or any locknut that relies on splines on the outside of the locknut. ALL are easily defeated. Gorilla locknuts and Super Locks (the ones I have) are the ones to get. Both available from wheel king in melbourne (I don't have any dealings other than as a customer)

G'day Cashie
Im glad to hear you are loving it.
I was looking at spending below $30K on 2nd hand and then talked myself into a few more K and getting a brand new one. I was trying to save money and just get the standard S as they have some good deals on in Sydney at the moment.... but then i saw a Storm ..... i think i fell in love and had to have it The extra money was like the icing on the cake to make sure i was 100% happy with my purchase and not kicked myself later.
Im going from a Pajero 4x4 LWB to the ute. So its a culture shock in terms of storage, speed and ease of driving! It will be good to drive a car that is not underpowered like the 4x4. My old mans got a VS acclaim and we put some pedders stuff in it, just at standard height, but a a lot firmer for handling and towing. So i hope the ute is as good or better.
I really wanted a Falcon for space and was looking at used AU XR6 and 8 but the holden won me with the new alloytech and 6 speed gear box.
Its re-assuring to hear that u r happy with the V6 .... espec after coming from a 8
What are the mats like.... do they fit OK?..... and did u get them as the package or buy them seperate. Just wondering wat $$ they are going for.
ive got some driving lights off the 4x4 to put on the nudge bar and a couple of CB antennas to try and run cables into the engine bay.Have to look for route thru the fire wall.
We got a digi cam at work and ill do some piccys
Thanks Devil ...... i will have a look out for the ones you mention. Shops will always tell they sell a good product, but theres nothing like real word of mouth. And I was actually in Bega the other weekend and it was stinking hot !
hmmm locking fuel cap might me on my list too

I could have shown you first hand what the super locks look like... Wheel king are I beleive the only ones selling them in Australia, and cost is approx $103 delivered.... Do a search and you will find the pics on here somewhere.
