Hey guys.

Just wondering what would be a good deal to buy a 2003 VY I SV8 6 Speed with 80,000k's from a Holden dealer (I assume it will be totally stock)?

It's apparently in good nic but I dont know why it has so many k's. Could it be a ex-cop car? How would I tell? It will come with a year or 20,000k's of full factory warranty and then a 3 year Holden Certified Warrenty.

I will probably also ask to trade in my current ride.

Cheers.

There are two very relevant threads, both recent, on this. First is "03 sv8 is it worth it?" and second is "SV8's Hard To Sell or Everything??? ". Based on the info in those and what I found in trying to sell mine I would say that unless the 80,000km one is going for low 20's forget it, unless that is all your budget runs to.

I am not going to go over what happened trying to sell mine as it is in the other threads and it certainly isn't sour grapes on not being able to sell mine, I am just trying to give others the benefit of my experience trying to sell a really top, low mileage (for 2 yrs old) one and hopefully save fellow forum members from wasting thousands of dollars.

There are a few examples quoted in those threads and in a couple of PM's I received of very low mileage (8,000 - 9,000 km) SV8's for around $30,000 or just above. If you can find a dealer with a new VY SV8 (unlikely) or 04 VZ SV8 they'll just about be paying you to take them off their hands by now. :D

The market for used SV8's is very depressed at the moment - bargain damned hard!! :)

PS I am no expert but have never heard of an SV8 cop car, only SS's. Doesn't mean to say it isn't one that was used as an unmarked one. Don't they have to tell you the previous owner up there?

Many buisness cars can and do travel up and over 100.000K in a year.....
Check the front of the Service book for previous Owner.

If trading forget the price altogether and look at the change-over figure.

?

i sense the return of the sleeper - 02/03/04 SV8's without the body kit etc. Eventually they will be termed the "sleeper" of the holden v8 range

Yes, there are sv8's as unmarked cop cars, well in the ACT anyway, there is a black mannual Ex unmarked Highway car at Pickles at the moment, not sure if it sold yesterday as i left before it came up, 40k, Holes everywhere, broken plastic inside, front bumper with Huge amounts of chips, and they wanted 32k buy it now!!!!, ouch!

The bargain yesterday and im spewing i didn't have my finacnce reading was the 02 VX SS series 2, ex special poilice here in the ACT, not a chaser, it had 40k, Imaculate. spare not touched, brand new heavy duty towbar never touched, it went for 19600.
