i was just wondering out of peoples personal experience which is the best value throttle body for a bolt on car.i was thinking of the starr performance 84mm job but they also have a 94mm unit that will bolt up is this too big.there is also the much smaller ss inductions one(78mm).which would be best.i have found out that they are all the same price so really i was just after personal opinions unless there is another that i haven't came across yet.suggestions very welcome.thanks.
ps. in case thunder looks at this or anyone else in the know.will the sureflo otrcai fit up to these.i cannot seem to find any info using the search function to see if it does or not.thanks again

Mate ur wasting ur money on a throttle body as the gain will be that minimal that you wont even feel it.If i was you i would invest that money in a monaro cai and a edit and the gain will be much more feelable and much greater, this is only my opnion as others may differ goodluck

I too asked pretty much the same question and supposedly the only benifit for a bolt on car is pretty much on the redline ie no point. As for the OTRCAI, I highly recommend it. When I first had mine put in the weather was still quite warm so I couldnt really tell a great deal of difference but now winter is setting in OH MY FREAKIN GOD!!!! Its amazing what a bit of cold air can do for your LS1.

Stay with the stock T-B,

It's capable of flowing as is, 50% more than a stock car needs.
As Sonny says, use your money elsewhere on things that do make good gains in helping the engine breath better.

If you get a bigger TB you would have to butcher the OTR to suit as they're designed for the stock size TB.

I just got one as stated above from Rebel SS via this forum.

It has improved my economy by about 1.0L/100km and probably given me about 0.1s at the strip. Feel more at WOT and also more responsive at part throttle. Plus it is now idling better than before.

It was a good mod.

Get all the bold ons, edit and cold air and the Star throttle body I think makes a difference at acceleration. Its personal choice though and unless you know your car you wont feel too much difference as the manifold opening is only 74 mm at the back.

Mine is the 84mm one.You also end up bypassing the heater hose which theoretically will give you colder air (?)

Guys be ware as larger throttle body's cause loss of air speed in the intake which will relate to a doughy throtle, the throttle will always be sharper with the std throttle body.

For the Guys who are thinking about bigger throttle bodies:

Here is a validated test done by some pretty experienced guys from Katech no less. They have a 364ci LS2 which has a 90mm T-B and 90mm sized intake manifold. Then in one of the tests the silly buggers remove it and fit an LS6 intake with a stock 76mm LS6 T-Body.
Better have a read of the article to see just what these nutters are up to:

http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/113_0504_ls2/
http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/...ls2/index2.html

Hotrod (Katech again) also did a validated test on a 451cid C-5R engine (racing version of LS1/6) and slap me with a soggy salmon if they didn't go and fit an 85mm BBK t-body to that instead of the stock LS6 item. For some reason it lost power:

These Katech people don't seem to be up to much.
