Hi all,

I currently own a VU Series II SS. When I purchased it mid '04, it came with an alarm upgrade already fitted. The vehicle was originally bought new from Suttons Holden (Rosebury, NSW), and I assume that this alarm may have been installed by the dealer (or perhaps an agent, etc).

For insurance purposes, I am trying to identify the brand of the upgrade/alarm.. however the unit itself is not marked with a brandname, and the instruction manual doesn't show its brand-name either.

Wondering whether anyone is able to help me identify the brand? Here are some clues..

1. The unit makes a single "chip" type noise when the doors are locked. (And nothing when unlocked)

2. When set into alarm, the indicators flash left/right alternately (This is quite unusual, as most alarms flash all indicators together, at the same time)

3. User's manual has "Made in Australia" logo on its front cover.

4. After activation of the alarm, you turn the ignition to "ON" and the alarm's LED will display the sector which caused the alarm. (Indicated by number of flashes, from 1-10).

5. Alarm has current/shock/ultrasonic/microwave sensing inputs.

I know that these features are probably pretty standard amongst most brands, but wondered whether anyone knows of any brandnames which may have these features, and is made in AU?

I can take photos of the unit if required. (Not that there is much to see under the bonnet...) :p

Any assistance appreciated.

Regards,

GK

Mate what your looking at under the bonnet is probably just the siren. Look under your steering column for another black box as such and this should be the alarm unit. Failling this take it back to Suttons @ Rosebery and ask them to identify it, they probably have the one brand they always fit.

Hope this helps.

i think you will find it is an au300 upgrade, it works via your factory remote, most insurance company's will accept this as it is all black wiring etc, what you may need to check is if they have done extra points of immobilisation. hope this helps.
