I plan to replace my tyres (Bridgestone RE 030's 30,000Km's) next weekend but would like some feedback (and yes I have done a search and spent a few hours reading previous posts) on the following tyre choices.
They are all 235/45/17 and are around the $300 each mark and I am only looking at about 30,000Km or 12 months, out of them.
Yokahama C-Drive
Dunlop Direzza
Bridgestone G111's
Toyo Proxes T1-R's or T1-S's (not sure of price as shop was shut by the time I got there)
What are your comments; Grip wet / dry, feel, wear rate, etc.
Thanks
cashie

Have a look at the latest wheel magazine, they compare about 7 tyres in that size.

Normally tirerack.com is a worth a look, especilally the surveys http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/index.jsp
No hits on Yokohama C drive, Bridgestone G111. Toyo's not listed at all
Direzza DZ101 - Ultra High Perf Summer listed but no review.

Have a look at the latest wheel magazine, they compare about 7 tyres in that size.
Final results were:
1. Goodyear Eagle Revspec RS-02 ($298)
2. Michelin Pilot Preceda ($290)
3. Maxxis Victra MA-21 ($198)
4. Bridgestone Potenza S-03 ($355)
5. Toyo Proxes T1R ($312)
6. Yokohama AVS Sport V-102A ($359)
7. BF Goodrich G-Force Sport ($201)
8. Dunlop Direzza DZ 101 ($288)
9. Kuhmo Ecsta KU19 ($235)
The value choice from this comparison would have to be the Maxxis Victra.

Thanks all for the info, however, I am not necessarily after the cheapest tyres but they have to be around the $300 mark so that I can afford tyres for the VR exec as well.

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. Hunt around for a good price. Not the cheapest, but they are one of the best. Tirerack rates them very highly. So do I

Sloone,
It really depends on what you want, Grip/Performance or Wear. It is a matter of personel opinion. You will hear different stories from different people.
I have just replaced my tyres on the SS with Bridgestone S03's,had these on the old SS and got approx 26k out of them, have now gone back to them after trying some of the others.
Prior to this I have tried the Toyo Proxies ( only did 17-18k).
Yokohama AVS - Not bad but think the Bridgestones handle better.
None of these were cheap in the $350 mark and up. Can't comment much on the cheaper brands.
The problem is every Tyre dealer you go to pushes a different brand, shit I even had one Bob Jane franchise push the Bob Jane "all rounder" on the old SS. My 2 cents anyway. Good Luck.

In no particular order for 235/45/17 availability:
Street radials - Firestone SZ50EP, Goodyear F1GSD3, Hankook K104 Sport
Competition radials - Falken Azeni RT215, Toyo RA1 or Proxes R888

Steve, might be worth trying the sumitomo HTR-Z11, great tyre that is always trying for grip... added to that we can do you a great deal on them.

My original Bridgestone tyres have just about had it as well.
My SS now has 18k on the clock, and original Bridgestone Potenza tyres a stuffed, apart from the back ones that I had on the front, roated them and havn't been doing burnouts so the rear's are great, now but the car steer's like shit, with the worne fronts.
I have decided to get GT Radials next, great performance and great value.
And keep the two reasonable rear tyres for spares in the shed.
$270 a tyre I got quoted.
So $1080 for all 4 doesn't sound too bad.

Maxxis Victra MA-Z1.
Overall 3rd out of 9 in tyre test - Top in wet stopping, ranked 4th/9 in dry braking, 3rd/9 in wet cornering, 4th/9 in dry cornering, 6th/9 in slalom, all for $200 per corner. A very good all rounder for 2/3rds the price of the Michelin Pilot and Goodyear Eagle.
Makes it the best value for money tyre on the market - rates ever so slightly better overall than the Bridgestone S-03 which is better in dry cornering and slalom (top in both) but costs $350 per corner. If you are track racing the Bridgie would be the go.
The Maxxis is quite close overall to the two tyres above it - the Michelin Pilot Preceda and the Goodyear Eagle Revspec RS-02.
The BIG question is wear rate - but as long as the Maxxis lasts 2/3rds or better than the Michelin or Goodyear then you're not behind and even maybe in front - especially in the wet - when it counts the most from a safety point of view.

thats why i said can't beleive their as good as those tyres at double or more the price. why pay more for the same performance. i would never have bought them except for others saying they were good thing.
i've tried bridgies, yokos, falkens, kumhos, goodyears, etc these = or exceed so far.
my guess they are a middle of the road performance wise out of all performance tyres. but they are trying to gain market share with low pricing. like toyo and kumho did when first appearing.
