Hi all,

I am new to the forum, having only picked up my SV6 on Friday and not ever having owned a Holden (or Ford) before.

I am ecstatic with the car so far, but was a little dissappointed to discover that some paint had been spilt on to the boot/spoiler. It's obviously from the factory as a drop looks like it is imbedded/baked into the boot. I have uploaded some picks here:

SV6 pics (http://www.healey.ws/sv6/)

I had a quick look over the vehicle when i picked it up, but missed this spot - in hind sight it is hard to see how i could have missed it, but - you get that! Anyhow, I would like some comments on what i should do now? Should i take it back to the dealer and demand they respray the boot and spoiler? I certainly won't accept this, and want it fixed.

On another note, i have noticed that it runs somewhat rough on cold idle (you can feel the car 'hick-up' or 'rock' when I start it). This rough idle reduces when at operating temp, but is still there. is this something to worry about. or will it get better with time?

Thanks in advance.

Andrew

Definatly take the car back and show the salesman, if you feel that you arent getting anywhere with your salesman then ask to see the sales manager.
It is in both there best interest to ensure that you are happy with the vehicle.

If after these 2 people you are unhappy then see either the Dealer Principal or the General Manager.

I agree. Take it back and let them know.

I have similar quality issues with my new crewman. They include poor paint quality along with many other issues. I think I may have a friday arvo special but it might be the end of a relationship with holden that my company has had for about 15 years.

Hi Andrew,

I assume from what you say that it is too deep to cut/polish out? If it was mine I would prefer to do that if possible as with repainting, especially a metallic, you are not guaranteed to get it matching perfectly. Even if it matches now it may age differently to the rest of the car.

boxhead/alholden thanks for the quick replies. I needed to double check that it is the norm to be able to take it back post-delivery. I will be calling them ASAP tuesday (P/hol here tomorrow).

wonky, the runs on the spoiler look as though they can be 'cut/polisjed' out. the spot on the boot doesn't. It looks as though it has already been buffed etc...

One more thing...are these cars meant to have a lining on the underside of the boot lid? It looks as though there is meant to be one, but nothing! Just steel, exposed wiring etc...

If you only picked up the car in the past couple of days then there shouldnt be an issue.
Just be honest and tell them you only saw it over the weekend.

I have had no end of problems with the paint on the bonnet on my monaro. It has been back three times now for various issues such as buff marks etc, and it is only now that they are considering doing a respray.

My advice is keep taking it back until you are satisfied, you paid good money for it and it sohuld be perfect. Whatever you do make sure they don't buff it, that'll just put crazy swirl marks in it

I agree - it should be near perfect, and it looks like it aint. :bash:

Anyone know any reason why Holden cant ship over a NEW factory silver bootlid (with spoiler) and get the dealer to do a bolt off-bolt on?

Buffing is dodgy unless wielded by an expert - if it's under the clear coat, obviously it isn't going to buff out.

Be persistent but polite, and dont take "no" for an answer.

Just take it back they will sort it but dont be a prick about it otherwise they might make life harder than it is. My previous vehicle had major issues with the paint at the end they sorted it out for me.

other than that its a beautiful car, makes me drool. nice gloss on the car. i need a couple of coats of polish to get it like that on my 2000 ss. guy at work has a new black xr8 and i cant even see a reflection due to the orange peel in it, i swear they painted it with a splatter gun !

Had some minor paint problems on Monaro, told the service department about them during the 1st service, they agreeded to fix them without the slightest hesitation.

Had a paint issue with the WH. Fuel filler cover was a different shade of quicksilver to the rest of the car. No grief at all in having it fixed via the dealer.

Difference in Manufacturers, son bought a new Mitsibishi Mirage as a run around, it had a problem with the bonnet, they have a prop to hold the bonnet up and he forgot to put it down and pulled the bonnet and put the slightest kink in it where the prop is, a panel shop would have probably just given it a slight push to fix it, mentioned it on the first service and they took a bonnet off a car in the holding yard and replaced it no questions asked, perfect match and factory paint finish, I asked about the old bonnet and they said they would send it back to Mitsubishi for a replacement and didn't want to inconvenience my son by making him come back when the new bonnet was in, I thought that was pretty good service. No mention of resprays or repairs.

Having looked at your boot pic, all I can say is NFGE! Not Flaming Good Enough!

That car should never have got out of the factory. Also it should have been picked up at the Dealership during the Pre Delivery Inspection!
