Hello All,
I have a question with regards to some driveshaft noise I have been experiencing in my VX S. The car does not have LSD. When I put the car in reverse, I can hear a "ding" sound (although this happens sporadically and not on every occassion). It sounds like metal hitting metal and rings like a soft bell.
Also, I have noticed that when I'm at slow speeds, and then give the car alot of acceleration, there is some sort of thump (although very very minor), which feels like there is some free-play between the drive shaft and the diff perhaps.
Apart from that, there is no other noise.
I originally thought this noise was coming from my diff, but it sounds and feels like as though it's coming from the driveshaft towards the diff.
I recall my old VP commodore sometimes had the "ding" noise, but I never did anything about it.
I would just like to ask if anyone knows anything about this issue, and what I can do to get it fixed. It is simply just annoying having this happen to a relatively new car under 70k.
Appreciate anyone's help and advice. Thanks!
