Hi all tried a search before posting no luck. Here is the problem what i am finding when driving my VZ SS is that the front seats (back rest) has slight movement forward and backwards. In turn when going over a bumpy road the back rest vibrates with the bumps. Has anyone come across this problem. I beleive its more pronounced with more air pressure in your tyres as well if you have Fe2 suspension due to it been firmer. I dont think it occurs with cloth trim only with leather. Has anyone come across this problem with their commie. It might not be specific to VZ other models may exibit this as well. If there is a simple fix let me know. Only way i can eliminate this is if i have a passenger in the front seat or lower air pressures in tyres which decreases the vibrations in the seat.

Regards

ive had a number of vy's in my shop, and yes if you slap the seat alittle yes they do have alittle bit of a rattle, seems to be the norm. talk to your dealer as holdens may have a fix. do you also have the headrests that spring foward in case of air bag deployment?.

cheers scott

There is a fix for Monaros with this proble. I presume other Holden seats use the same rail/ratchet design.

Have the same problem with the tonner.
Dealer has had one attempt - tells me he replaced the whole seat back.
Still rattles a different fore/aft position in the slide can help.

Gday Scottr8 not sure about the headrests that spring forward. But i can tell you that i wouldnt classify the rattle of the backrest as normal. It gets quite irritating hearing it. Definetly will get Holden to look at it. I can see it now everyone checking out their front seats...

My BA XR8 ute had the exact same problem, Ford couldn't fix it.

My VZ S Ute does not appear to have any seat rattles, maybe Holden has done a running change?

My front seats made a clicking sound until I adjusted the lumbar support....try that. I have not noticed the rocking type movement that you speak of. I have a VZSS with leather.

One thing I noticed with the VY, is that if the passenger doesn't place the seatbelt back properly, it can sit resting on the seat and the plastic trim of the B pilar, which is quiet loud, took me a little bit to work out what it was. So make sure it isn't that.

Had the same problem with my VX with leather. Mostly when the seat was at it lowest ride height. Took back to Holden and they said they had a revised base to fix. Seems to have worked.

Ok had another look this morning. Wasnt the seat backrest after all. Basically it was the seatbelt rattling against the plastic surround on the pillar. Quiet as a mouse now. :bash:
