A mate was given a Throttlebody a while ago, the hole was drilled too big in the Butterfly. Anyway, the person said you can have it all they have to do is bronze up the hole and drill a new one.

Anyway the guy got the guy to bronze it up. first problem he noticed, was the throttle cable wasnt straight it was slightly off centre, second problem, the Butterfly was sticking to a point where the accelerator pedal would just do nothing.

Now the worst part, the butterfly was so badly bronzed and alighned wrong, it scratched all around the TB and actually took divets out of the TB which is now in his engine  and.............. worser still, the bronzeing actually chipped off into bits and went in his engine   . His engine now rattles, he isnt a happy boy. i told him to do an oil change and hope for the best  Or better still approach the guy who bronzed it

Just goes to show, a simple butterfly change would of been suffice, or better still at least alighned properly as well.

simon think for a bit!
what has changeing the oil got to do with it?
if the bronze and other shit has got into the oil the only way it can get there is through a piston

Sounds like someone needs to a build a bridge

Perhaps your mate should return the $600 TB thats was "lent" and be done with it rather than flogging a dead horse

He may get away with it at least piston wise. But i think he would have a few bent valves. In the old days i had a nut go down the carbie hit the piston but didnt break it. Was so lucky but it did need a headjob afterwards..

how big was the original hole, and im sure the size of the welding and then it would have been ground flat, wouldnt off bent any valves, cause really it should look like a little flat disc, and know one else to blame, but who ever fitted it, maybe if he wasnt shore, get someone elses opinion. the bits that flaked of might have only scratched the bores.

and hows this for a f....up, a mates friend owns a nissan 300zx twin turbo, thought he would do some repairs, located a hose thought it was a vacuum hose and connected it, and gave it a rev, the engine stoped, and only to realise the hose he connected was a washer bottle hose and hydrolic locked, end result bent conrod, and craked bore, all for trying to save a dollar.
