Hi all. Are there any Brisbane based forum members out there who have a VX (pref. HSV model) with a Series 4 Monaro bonnet (the new one) fitted to their car? An older mate of mine has a HSV Racing Green VX R8 and is really keen to get one of the new bonnets fitted (he konws a bloke in the local Holden dealers spare parts and is mates with a panel beater). BUT, while he's seen a number of pics of these things, he's keen to see one in the flesh before he spends the cash. Fair enough, seeing as its gonna cost him around $2K all up. So, if there is anyone here who fits the bill and wouldn't mind sacrificing half an hour of their time sometime, let me know!!! Thanks all...

Can't help too much but my old man has a monaro bonnet on his VU SS, and I have to say it looks like it was built that way, suits it so well. Also, he got it through a friend at one of the local Holden dealers, and knows a panel beater, got it painted and fitted for under $2k. I'm hassling him for pics at the moment, he just needs to pull his finger out.

I had one fitted to my CV8 series one with no Problems, the only trouble was it was painted twice by one company that couldn't match the paint (devil Yellow)
I went to a small back yard spray painter with a booth and he done a good job for half the price. 2 K thats a bit rich!!!!.
Mine is going in for piston slap next week and will be gone for 5 days.

Yeah, $2K is a bit, but he's incredibly fussy. He's the kinda guy who spends the ENTIRE weekend pulling off his wheels and cleaning them. Its being blended with the front guards, he has to get new 'R8' stickers that are on the guards. He's also getting the air dam colour changed slightly...its all the bits and pieces that add up...shame about the piston slap mate. You mean you actually got a Brisbane Holden dealer to admit that was the problem?!?!?! Mine makes a hell of a racket, and I'm just always told that its valve train noise of some description (lifters, tappets or whatever). I'm going to give the old Magnatech a go...apparently that helps shut up these noisy LS1's! But yeah, if you're keen to help a fellow Holden nut out when you get your car back, send me a PM or something and we'll sort something out. Good luck with the rebuild!

I have a VxII wagon with the latest Monaro bonnet on it. (sorry it is not a HSV thou). I have changed the lights and bar cover as well. I only had to change a few wiring issues but other than that it fitted perfectly. If he wants to see it than send me an email. holden.57@optusnet.com.au
hope this helps.
