Guys, Just installed the BIG MOUTH cold air induction into my VZ SS Ute and I wanted to let everyone know:
*It Doesn't just fit in easily!!!

1. The Filter Housing needs to be trimmed on the left where it meets the cross member as to fit under the lip (where it's suppost to go according to the installation instructions).

2. The Coolant reservoir pipe hole needs to be bored out 2mm as it's 38mm, and the pipe is 40mm!

3. The removable panel covering the rad cap on the stock cover is sealed on the SS Induction cover, rendering one to remove the whole cover if access neccessary to the cap!

You'd think SS Inductions would have at least tested a fitting to make sure the product is right before release?

Just a heads-up for anyone about to purchase. It's not that big'a deal, just makes installation an 1 1/2 hours instead of 20 minutes.

Any probs guys with previous models?

Mate there has been plenty of problems with SS inductions stuff.

From there big bore throttle bodys that dont seem to work properly to the first intake tubes that split and cracked.

And they also sell the CAI's that dont do much except for draining your bank account.

In my opion SS inductions stuff is way way over priced and doesnt deliver the results for the money spent.

You should have searched the forum for SS Inductions since you joined in Feb .... would have saved you wasting money on the big pile of crappola that is the SS Inductions Big Mouth.

Mine split apart at the throttle body about 4 months after it was fitted.
Seems that SS Inductions forgot about the engine movement relative to the stationary air box. They didn't allow enuf flex in their design.

I think you will find that the post was about a "big mouth" CAI not a throttle body.

It is widely accepted now that the SS inductions CAI are crap to put it bluntly - hence the amount that pop up on ebay, trader or sitting in the corner of the garage wit the rest of the rubbish. They can be made to work better - but the point is after shelling out a few hundred bucks YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO!.

I don't know who did the R & D for these.. but anyone that designs and sells a product (marketed as a direct bolt on) that doesn't fit or needs additional mods should not be in the game.

Their TB's on the other hand seem to be of a better quality - and most/all seem to have no probs with them.

Oh ok...don't worry about me, I'm an idiot. :D Sorry. Lucky I don't have a SS CAI then.
