LS1 heads

Are the LS1 head the same? in other words can the Right side head go on the left hand side? My CV8 goes for a re-build tomorrow and I was wondering if they
mark them as you would think they would put the same head on the same side again.

Yes they are exactly the same

Yes they are exactly the same though i have noticed that the number 241 on the front of the head always sits on the drivers side,not that it would make a diff

Yes that number 241 also is on the Passenger side back (head swung around)
Yes the 308 and 253 were the same.

I have an idea that I read somewhere, there are differences in some head gaskets/water holes to the block. I think it was in a writeup about an LS1 book. I don't know if this equals changes to the heads though. However, earlier heads DID have perimeter tappet cover hold down bolts, not central as they are now. :)
