Hi all :) Just wondering how difficult it would be to add the trip computer to my STD 97 VS SII Ecotec Sedan. Would the harnes have the needed connections or would it be more trouble than its worth :( . Would love to hear from anyone who has tried it. Also thinking about Climate control but thats another thing.
Cheers

Hi,
I have just installed the Level 3 Cluster in my VS Series 2 Executive Manual. The cluster can be straight swapped, but the trip computer will not work without some electrical wiring modifications.
It is not beyond the home mechanic, but does require the following:
1 x Level 3 VR/VS Berlina/Calais/Statesman cluster
1 x Trip computer buttons
1 x Wiring Patch Harness
Some rewiring work.
The patch harness needs to be made by modifying either an original Berlina/Calais/Statesman harness, or buying a Holden harness (less than $100) and modifying it. The wiring instructions are generally available on the net. I could point you in the right direction if you wish.
All up, I would suggest that you should expect to take three or more hours, but I consider it worth the effort.
Cheers

Any Tech links you have would be great. I may need to do similar things for climate control so I might be better of doing both mods at the same time.
Thanks
