I don't imagine so...I think that would have already happened when the LS1 was released in the VT. Also, cars like the VN are geting to 15yrs old so I reckon the affect of VE would be minimal

I owned a VK 5.0 Calais about 5 years ago. Similar looking ones, with the same/ish mods are still selling for the same sorta price as what i bought mine for.

So im presuming VN's will keep their value for some time to come. Especially considering their popularity with the guys aged from 17 - 21.

It's the recent models, VZ, VY etc which will be hit hard IMO.

Actually, I think that VN/VP will drop in price quite a bit over the next couple of years. The VS seems to be a pretty popular model for young males these days, VN's are starting to become less desirable. I guess their time is almost over.

But that said, I highly doubt there will be a significant price drop (or any price drop at all) on the older models when the VE comes out.

Geez mate .. give it another 18months and you'll probably be able to buy my '03 SV8 for the same price as a nice VN SS now!! Prices are dropping all the time; checkout the other thread about "new" VYII SS's for $35K. I know it's all relative, but that's cheap muscle in my books.

For all our bitching and whinging about quality problems, Aussie V8 are still the best bang-for-buck around!

If you're worried about losing money on a car, don't buy a new one...

Gee I don`t know about VN VP VS prices dropping. the dealership I work at traded a VX SS series 2, 70k 18in vyss rims lowered with HSV brakes,
they give the woman $17,000 for it.& sold it to the trade for $19,000, the car was in good nick to.

I think you will still be able to pick up the VN SS for 2-4K still - it wont drop that much!!

Newer models seem to drop away fairly quickly before they steady for a while and will hold there price untill it really clocks up the years. Ive notice the VN in the last year or two have dropped considerably not to mention all the hsv range. A lot of hsv VT models are now dropping under the vs gts while the vs clubby has also dropped a few $$ due to newer models. In the end it depends on what people are prepared to pay.

From what I saw when buying my VN SS 4K will buy you a pretty rough one in SA. In the end they are a good looking workhorse. But I cant see an LS2 powered VE lowering the value of em.

VN's have pretty much seen the end of their depreciation cycle. They will remain around the same price they are now no matter what new model is released. Of course there will always be people out there who try to sell way above the market value anyway. Those who try to sell around the current REALISTIC market value should be able to get that price even after VE is released.

I was wondering why it was about LS2's, and VE's.

And i think current fuel prices and what not have hit Holdens pretty hard. The VT's and VX's are almost worthless these days.

Sort of.. a little while ago I looked at 5L SS' from VN's etc. I picked up a nice (but needed love) VS II SS with all the fruit. VN SS' are still going for 4-9K. Still a good looking car in Atlas Grey (what I wanted)

Can't beat the VN-VS Boot depth, especially for what I do (Music, band gear etc) and the sound of a nice 5L!

Economy.... hmmmmm

once cars get to that age, the market value loses significance. it's about finding a well looked after good example that you like. remember that vt2 ss' can be had for around $10k which will provide much better economy and performance.

Some of the worst hit models are the VT II/VX Calais LS1s and WH models. Ridiculous that you can pick up a WH LS1 for about $8000 now with decent kms, add $1000 and you should be able to find a nice VX Calais LS1. WK and WL are suffering too.

Probably a good time to buy one and just keep it for many years, cheap motoring.

Interesting thread this, at the moment im tossing up whether to pick up a vn ss for 6-7grand (very clean one i've seen) as just a cheap weekend cruiser (dont want to spend much). While working in the industry i have seen some very cheap v8 wh+ statemans in, i dont think i can bring myself to drive an auto (just me i suppose).

Definately the time to buy vt2-vy v8's (if funds are permitted), just so bloody cheap at the moment, everything is deep in the teens.

I got my 05 VZ SS ute for $25000 (with 94000 on the clock, talked $4000 off the price) a month ago with no tradein, and I've seen them going for about 26000 with over 100k on them. as for ecconomy, it's not to bad on the juice (about 12.4/100) if I keep off the loud peddal (have had it down to 9.3/100 on a trip to Coffs harbor recently). if I wanted an ecobox I would have bought a VW Golf GTI CRDI.

I know, a mate of mine has one. there good on the fuel and they have enough torque and power to mildly please even myself. It's the only small car I'd consider owning.
