I would like to say that after 2 years of hassling my 'P Plate' son about the hot VL commodore he was driving and the constant attention he received from our friends in blue (probably well deserved), he finally bit the bullet, went and borrowed a fair sum of money, and purchaced a really clean fully modded VT S pac. White, Lowered, HSV Clubsport kitted, big wheels, stereo and DVD, the works. Suddenly the attention he was receiving stopped, and he became aware of the looks of admiration the car was getting. Obviously too much attention - last night between 9.00-10.30pm it was stolen from Knox Shopping Centre. It was locked securely, club locked, immobilised, alarmed, everything that could be done, was. Obviously, they really wanted the car. The down side is, his now going to be paying of a loan larger than the insurance company will pay out on, for a car he doesn't have. (Not including the $3000 worth of original CD's, camera etc he had locked in the glovebox) This theft will have ramifications on his apprenticeship, his finances and his social life. In finishing I would like to say that if you know of, or here of people that exist by ripping of other people, don't put up with it, because these low lifes have no boundaries - next time it may be your pride and joy, or one of your family

That depends... Knox has many car parks, I was there not long ago and parked in the car park where it was all open, so any truck can drive in and take any car.

Thats really fu.cked up mate. :bash:

Sorry to hear it, you should go and talk to who ever did the alarm, being in the industry, cars should be hard to steel other than to highjack or tow your car...

You can setup a car alarm with SMS, tilt sonsor, microwave, remote immoblise etc for around $800, its really worth the money imho...

GRIZZ, I'm always hanging around Knox, gotta love the late night coffees at Bar Bosh. I'm always wary of my car when parking there as the crowd can get a little rowdy at times but they do tend to respect vehicles. It's just the low-lifes that think stealing a car is the real 'hard work' needed to achieve something in life.

Sorry to hear it. It's stories like these that don't help whats left of the little appreciation you have for the area you live in.

Cheers,
Steve.

Very sorry to hear. Can you post a pic? Not likely to do much good, but plenty of members live in Knox, and will keep an eye out just in case.

(Or if you need someone to host a pic, just PM me.)

car was fitted with a good quality? aftermarket 2 point security system c/w
with all the usual tricks. won't mention the brand here, because i don't think
it would be fair. that was in addition to the factory fitted security, a club lock
and the steering turned hard to the passenger side. doors were deadlocked etc, etc. you could actually see from the tread pattern in the exhaust residue, where the car was driven staight in, and removed on a tight angle due to the steering/club lock being hard left. as i said they really wanted this one.

Don't worry when he gets caught and front the judge his Lawyer will say he was sexually abused and they always get off after saying that. Sorry to hear that mate and I don't know why we protect the scum in this country, i'm lost for words.

sorry to hear it

though the VT is pretty easily stolen and even when immobolized there is a way around it.

i think the car will be found just minus the good bits these scums should be hung by the throat/GoNads i reckon.

Is it not possible that the guys who sold him the car could have had the orignal keys/alarm fobs and used those to get in the car and steal it? Perhaps they sold it with the intent to steal it back later and make even more money off the car?

It could be possible?

Regardless of brand, make model, bells and whistles, its down to the installation in the end... so brand names arnt a problem, espically Brant, they closed their doors on friday ;) (famouse for their 6 point keypad immoblisers for WRX's)

Back on topic, bells and whiltles dont save your car, a tilt sensor, properly installed with an SMS alarm would send you an SMS straight away, then you could call the cops, get back to your car etc

Yet another sad story of theft.

Low life scum should be put in jail.........

It is hard driving a nice looking car these days, we just have to be careful where we park our cars, no where is safe but some are safer than others.

Take ur g/f's or partners little 4 banger if need be, just don't put ur car in suspect situations like a car park while ur at a late movie, train stations and the like.

Happy driving ppl.

i would be contacting the person or the ppl that ur son brought the car from and see if any of the parts have recently reappeared on there car or there friends cars....i would be looking very very very closely at that aspect..

Obviously too much attention - last night between 9.00-10.30pm it was stolen from Knox Shopping Centre. Those photos Elmis posted say it all. I guess it highlights the downside to doing up a car like that which is always going to get a lot more attention. But at the end of the day, we're not talking about a new Ferrari in a shopping centre carpark, I mean, Commodores like that aren't extremely rare or anything so to steal it in full view like that really is a brazen act. Which begs the question... perhaps this genuinely was an "inside" job. On another thread a guy's VY was stolen when a thief snuck in and pinched the keys. Doesn't that make you wonder if something similar happened here, as in they followed him, already had the keys, and snared it that way? I mean unless the guys were absolute professionals, how could they have done it so discreetly?

In finishing I would like to say that if you know of, or here of people that exist by ripping of other people, don't put up with it, because these low lifes have no boundaries - next time it may be your pride and joy, or one of your familyI hear you mate. People like that are the lowest form of human life and I often find myself walking back to the car sometimes thinking how I'd react if I found someone trying to steal it or in the act of vandalising it. Since the police have a massive backlog of theft/vandalism cases, what's the right thing to do? Do you give chase? Do you vandalise them? I wish I could always look on the bright side like some people and not give it much thought but there are just so many scumbags out there waiting to take something that isn't theirs.

Useless advice in this situation but I would HIGHLY recommend a tracking/monitoring/disabling setup - for about $800 - $1000 installed plus around a $1 a day for the back to base monitoring and disabling it is a tremendous investment. Some insurance companies will give a discount with these installed, some insurance companies will not insure a HSV without one installed. It wont necessarily stop the car getting stolen but it will give you an almost 100% chance of getting the car back ( in the case of the equipment in mine they have a 100% recovery record ) which is huge for peace of mind.

2 days gone from when the ride went missing, haven't heard a thing from the police yet, which is probably a bad thing. really makes you wonder though when you read the other theft post, when some members!!! think it's ok to rip off parts from fellow commodore drivers cars just because it happened to them. vicious circle really, but you do have wonder.

I'm surprised the car wasn't insured at least for loan payout figure..... I know with HP that is a requirement (and a good one at that) but with more people using personal loans, etc, it is possible to be left holding the bag.... I hope they find the car quickly, although after 2 days, the chances of recovery drop....

The moral here would be: if you own a remotely nice car... dont drive it where its vulnerable... then you gotta define what actually "vulnerable" is.

Next time you guys wonna go places where the car is not under cover and hidden (movies, gym, clubs etc) think about parking at least where theres a place safe enough to park (car parks with security, car parks where itll be impossible for a truck to get to the car, parking in someones garage).

This really sucks. But the world is a fu.cked up place. :bash:

the trouble is being 20 years old, most insurance companies won't touch if your car has more than one modification. obviously this one did. in addition to that they wouldn't insure the sound/dvd system (not one company said they would) the only company that agreed to insure it with the amount of modifications done was the the company we obviously went with, but even then it was only for $14000 which is a lot less than the the car was/is worth. it is really difficult for young kids to get insurance, they are all assumed as being total losers and incapable of behaving 'normally'

The world is like you say, as negative as it might sound, however worrying every second you're away from your car is letting them win. I guess the best thing to do is spend some extra dough on increased security, just as you do with upgrades to the rest of the car. After an SMS alert tips you off, some kind of tracking device that sends information back to a security company would be a great help. I'd sacrifice a couple of grand in mods on a new car to have that peace of mind.

Well it's been a number of weeks now, the insurance company have paid out a sum that was well below the value of the car, and that didn't cover any of the personal items that were in the car at the time of the theft. Overall the loss to my son is approximately $10,000. He will have to continue paying for a car he no longer has. However apparently the car has been sighted around the eastern suburbs with a new blue paint job, it still has the same bodykit, even the rainbow metallic sticker is still on the back window, only difference is at the moment is has a set black steel rims on it. These may only have been on whilst being painted? It was sighted again yesterday travelling on Wellington Road, Scoresby - it could just be a vehicle that is very similar. But it definatelely had the sticker, which would be very rare. Anyone out there seen it. A rego number would be very handy for the boys in blue

Also remember if it has been seen around, the theives could have sold it, in which case if you do find it, you or the insurance company get the car back and the people who paid their hard earned cash for it to the unknowngly theives will strike out.

Very sorry to hear the news - hope fully the insurance lesson for the young fella will be one he learns well form and it saves him even more later on.

It is really difficult for young kids to get insurance, they are all assumed as being total losers and incapable of behaving 'normally'

Yes it is hard but that is because there are a lot of young guys out there crashing a lot of cars. And certainly not everyone crashes but when there is a combined gender/age bracket that has the largest bills sent to their insruance companies then they are going to get the largest premiums and find it hardest to get insurance.

But having said that he obvioulsy works hard and deserves his rewards - i hope you get the car back.

Just a funny point - the photo  has the number plates blocked out .....??????

Really sorry to hear bout ya young blokes car - it really sucks, and makes me very angry. Why people think they have the right to rip someone off, just cause they want what they havn't got, and can't be stuffed earning it. Last Nov some a-hole tried to steal my VR berlina 5.0 from about 15 meters where i was sleeping. Thanks to the after market imobiliser, they didn't get it (it it was too low to get on a truck!). They did $1200 damage to the door and the ignition barrel. The locksmith gave me the lowdown on how to get around the Holden immobiliser, and if what he said is correct, the humans that nicked your sons car would have had to wait an hour to start it if they didn't have a set of keys, - hence that makes a few of the posts who suspected an "inside" job have a lot of merrit. with my case, the bright side was, I lost total interest in my VR after that, so I sold it and bought my current gem - turned a bad into a good.

Seeing the car has been seen around, I really hope you get a chance to get those pricks back!!
