Hi all managed to scuff one of the rims today Friday the 13th horray. Not happy anyway can someone post details of rim repairers around Melb. Preferably not the Moorabin shop. Did a search here on the forum only mention is the shop at Moorabin. Want to try some others here in Melbourne.
regards

I'm waiting to find time to try Matt Coleman, who has recently started up painting/repairs in Melbourne (he's one of the Porsche drivers from the support races at V8 Supercars). 0412 553 455, let me know if you can give any feedback :D

Any one know where in Adeliade I can get rims repaired?

I am wondering what they use to do this? Maybe something we can do ourselves?

Would never have guessed BJ's. I spose they just send em off to a rim repairer of their choice.

Some time ago, after a slight argument with a gutter, I got one of mine repaired at a specialised rim repairer.... $250 later.... not cheap to repair, but damn excellent job!!

Im sure others have tried this (and most likely have aftermarket rims ect) but I stripped the powder coat off mine and polished them up with excellent results, if I scratch it, out comes a bit of sandpaper and some high speed buffing with a drill and hey presto, brand spanking.

The standard rims actually have some good quality alloy underneath.

Is this so hard to do ones self?

There are a number of metal puttys/glues on the market that would allow this to be done at home. The only issus would be getting it repainted/powder coated.

There's a company in the US selling kits to start up your own business doing this.

Hi,

Have you used their service?
Do you know how much they charge, and how long it takes?

Thanks
Jason

I was quoted $50 per rim here in Adelaide by a guy who does repairs for car yards. Mates rates.. He reckons good as new in 2 hours for 4 rims :)

Wow, that is cheap, wish I was in Adelaide. If fuel was not so expensive I would drive them over there

Sorry to ressurect an old thread but does anybody know of any places on the southside (I'm in Coorparoo) that can do rim repairs while you wait? I'm looking to get all 4 wheels done and need the car during the week. Either that or a place that is willing to lend me a set of wheels and tyres while my rims are repaired (doubt it though). Any help appreciated.

Cheers!

Colour matching is the biggest pain in the arse - most males are colourblind to a certain degree so females are best suited to the role :bravo:

WH Grange wheels were a pain in the arse to match up because I heard they were originally powdercoated by HSV - a paint-touch up guy I knew mucked around with golds, silvers & blacks before mixing in a sparkle and had the colour down pat.

Cheers
