Will they too suffer from piston slap? Has anyone had any faults with them so far? A few guys off here have purchased some VZ Clubbies and GTOs, how are they running?

Sounds like they have done it right with the LS2! Although still a tad early to be completely sure.

Yep .. six years with LS1 in Commodores and never seemed to iron *all* the bugs out. Just throw the baby out with the bathwater and start again (with the LS2)?
Rod.
didn't the GTO Motor was using in the all aussie shootout loose power since they last used it. Might not be a true indication as it probably would've been thrashed and the conditions were pretty harsh at the time of testing but they did note it and and HSV rep did admit to it as well. just a thought

My car has done 16000kms. No mechanical problems yet. I think my boot lid has a leak as I found a patch of water in the car jack compartment area. Will get them to check it out at next service.

Hi, my brother in-law has a VZ clubby which has done 7,500k’s. Recently the safety mode kept cutting in. The car looses heaps of power, wouldn’t go over 40ks and revs stayed very low. It had something to do with the electronic throttle control. Anyway took his car back too Suttons Arncliffe from where he baught it (a very bad experience in its self) and according to them they changed the throttle body which supposedly fixed the problem. They had the car there for 4 days and fixed nothing. I also doubt they changed the throttle body on the car ‘cause it looked like the same one to me before he took it there. After a few minutes of driving the car during the day he picked it up, it continued with this “safety mode” problem and really struggling to move. Actually it was quite dangerous driving it in traffic like that because the car could not accelerate what so ever, a push bike would have beaten it in a run.
Going off tips here from other forum members and HSV in Melbourne, he took the car to Suttons Rushcutters Bay service centre on Bourke Street. Spoke to the service manager there “George Chalazia” and their HSV guy “Mark Short”. What can I say people? Best service out. I can’t recommend these guys enough. Mark certainly knows his stuff when it comes to HSV cars. The problem was fixed in a day. Mark knew exactly what the problem was before even having to go over the car just from what my brother in-law explained to him. These guys actually sit and listen to you unlike others who just want you in and out. The problem as Mark said was some switch or something under the accelerator pedal (had nothing to do with throttle body!!!), and Mark was right. The problem was fixed and not only that but the car went a lot harder than it did when my bro in-law picked it up new. I drove him down to pick up the car and saw how hard it took off as I was behind him. First thing I did was comment on how much harder the car looked like going and he said to me yes it felt so much stronger.
Anyway that’s the only real problem my bro in-law has had with his VZ clubby, other than that its going real strong. Again if you’re in Sydney and having problems with the servicing or warranty claims on your HSV cars try the Suttons East Sydney Service Department on Bourke Street. After having such a bad experience with Suttons Arncliffe, my bro in-law has had the best experience and service from these guys, more service departments from any manufacturer should take a leaf out of these guys’ books.
Cheers

WOW!
That is surprising. I bought my car from Suttons Arncliffe and found it an absolute pleasure. nothing was too difficult for them and the service I received and continue to receive is second to none.
Maybe a different salesman?

Salesman who sold the car didn’t want to know about it. But what does the salesman have to do with the service department? I'm talking about the experiences with the service department.
My brother in-law and sister also received calls from one of the Suttons brothers from head office and the GM of the dealerships "Frank G", don’t remember his last name. I have to say that both of these gentlemen were totally professional and listened to our concerns and bad experiences we had. They assured us that those involved would be spoken to etc etc.
My brother in-law isn’t the first to have had bad experiences with Suttons Arncliffe. I have had PM's from other forum members with bad dealings from them, and also out and about in general. Funny thing was about a week after this happened, a friend of ours was having difficulties as well with their service department there.
Now unlike some, I'm not Suttons bashing, this was shown as we went to another Suttons service centre where we received “excellent service” even though my brother in-law didn’t buy the car from Suttons Rushcutters Bay he still received TOP SERVICE! From their service department.
People have mentioned this on the forum before how good this dealer service centre is (Suttons Rushcutters Bay), and I can attest to that too having experienced what my brother in-law and sister went through getting their VZ clubby fixed and serviced first hand.
Not sure if you have had a problem with your car yet? I assume not and I hope you never do. But if you do and you take the car back there, I just hope your experiences will be better than the one my brother in-law got. Another thing, have you had the first 3,000k service? Did they change oil and filter? If you believe they did, I suggest you take the sump cover off under the car and have a look at the colour of the filter on your car. If it's still the original AC Delco blue filter (replacement GM filters for these cars are white ones like the LS1) then guess what? They never changed your oil as happened to my bro in-law on his 3000k service. Yes even though over the phone they told him they would change the oil, they never did! From 0 - 10,000k they expected the car to run on the same oil while being run in? WTF. Many forum members recommend oil changes at 1500k’s when running in an engine, then every 5,000k.
Anyway I'm glad you’re experiences with them have been good, my brother in-law’s wasn’t.

As with Crisso, I bought my current and previous rides from Suttons Arncliffe. I can no speak more highly of Garry Han**** in sales and George and Joe in the service department. In 6 years, I have had nothing but the best service from the Suttons Arncliffe team.

Oh, I misread your post then, it sounded like you said the procurement of the vehicle was a very bad experience in itself.
To answer your question, no, I have never dealt with their service department, my first time will be next Thursday. Thanks for the tips, I was certainly expecting the oil and filter to be changed, I will ensure this does occur.

“Mark Short”. What can I say people? Best service out.
Same experience here, Mark is good. Small service dept too at Rushcutters; service is just better all round. Some of the Suttons dealers are just too big to provide any sort of consistent (personalised) attention. You can easily walk into the CBD from there too.

Crisso, you might get asked to pay for the oil and filter change. Log book (Holden / HSV) does not consider the 3000km as a service, just a check up that nothing is out of place. Had the power steering hoses replaced in mine as they were leaking (two short ones to the cooler). First oil change is not until 10,000Km service. I also asked when mine went in as with my previous HSV the oil was changed at 1500km.
