As you would possibly/probably know the Adventra LX8 has holden's very decent premium sound package with 10 million speakers and a sub in the back.

My question or distress is that when you turn it right up it tends to just stop at 40(?). That seems to be the loudest and then from time to time if gets a decent amount of bass through the sub it seems to turn it down. You can then turn it down a little more manually and then turn it right back up again.

Is this a common issue with the stereo? What can I do to fix it?

There is a setting you can change through your dash display that adjusts the automatic distortion control.

I think yours may be kicking in when the bass comes in, which makes it lower the volume to stop the distortion...

thats DDL kicking in. To turn if off:
press the off button the the radio.
hold preset number 1 and press on button as well. This should get you to the options menu.
go through the menu till you see ddl. turn that off and you should be sweet
