How long have you guys been getting from your pads and rotors?
Astras are notorious for going through pads and rotors quickly, and I just got a call from the dealer telling me that I would need new rear pads and rotors today (at 105,700km on the original set).
Strikes me as odd that the rears would wear quicker than the fronts, but I think they might have been thinner to start with.
So, how does this compare with Commodore mileage?

I have been getting about 30000kms from pads (DBA x-drilled and slotted rotors). i use bendix ultimate. rotors normally need changing after about 75000 in an auto and 85-90000 in a manual. This is my usage and may differ significantly from others. The pad life is less since I put the cross drilled/slotted rotors on.

I just had Holden machine the front discs at 40,000, but the pads were fine. They did the machining under warranty.

euro cars have very soft brakes standard...
most models will have front pads and usually rotors by 40000 ks... or 2 years whatevr way you want to look at it...
and most cars run about 40 or 50 percent more braking to the front, so that equates to about 100000 kms for rears...
that sounds about right... but the fronts not being replaced yet thats odd, especially ona euro...
and yeah, usually rear rotors are thinner and usually solid, not vented... if im not mistaken commodores are solid discs aswell, dont pay that much attention... most cars are...
yopur doing well to get 100000 out of front brakes...

Funny this thread should be brought back from the dead today - my Astra is going to the dealers tomorrow to have the groaning noise in the front brakes looked at, which I'm taking as the signal that I'm going to need new front pads and discs.
So that's 105,700km from the rear pads and discs, and 142,800km from the front pads and discs. More than happy with that.

My original front rotors were replaced at 70000k's only because i put bigger ones on and they were still fine. i very slight lip but still well within spec. The rears were changed at 95000k's and again, still heaps of metal left on them.
Astra's are pretty bad on rotors and pads (VERY black wheels all the time) and they cost the earth too. Over 4 times the cost of the commodore ones last i looked.

Yeah, my front wheels are covered in black dust all the freakin time.
Are Commodore pads and discs really that cheap? Today's damage came to $109.96 for front pads and $166.45 for a pair of front discs.

Probably depends where you buy them from but NVU do fronts for $110 a pair and pads for around $55 I think. But that is supply only.
