Unusual Commodore..its a VY or VX?

tootling along Hampton St Bayside Melbourne this morning
and I spy a nice VY SS..umm no its a VX
ummm
well its a white Commodore with a complete VY SS front
with a VX rear

got me confused :eek:

well the front is a lot easier to change than the rear. so if the rear is a VX, I would say they just changed the front bumper and lights to make it a VY

it may have even been one of the "VX bumgraft onto VY" commodores... I remember a mob in sydney doing one at a cost of about $15k.

I thin it was mentioned in an old Wheels or Motor mag...

Why would anyone do such a thing when they could just get a VX and change the front for a helluva lot less $$ than that :eek: :eek:

ahh, but what if they like the VY interior (which would have to be leather because the cloth pattern is blehhhh)

I have seen a panel beater rebuild a rolled over VX wagon using a VY shell. VY Outside VX Inside.

Could not buy VX shells when it was done.

( Can't buy VY shells now need to use VZ shells )

would mean 2 guards the bonnets as well as the front bar,

Hey Smitty have you seen the VL donar with VY front (from windscreen forward) that buzzes our bayside 'burbs sometimes, red (to go faster of course) and it seems to have been done professionally? Looks a little like a VL Walkinshaw missing most it's panels (to a FF anyway) until you realise all that extra front width is a later model commo?
