Suncorp Insurance Duty of Disclosure (in relation to traffic offences!)

I just rang Suncorp Insurance and they informed me the only time you need to inform them of Traffic Offences is if your licence has been suspended or restrictions placed on it (ie. placed on a 12 month provisional instead of suspension).

They made a note of saying that this applies to ANYONE who drives the vehicle (not just anyone on the policy), so if your mate has had his licence suspended (EVER) and you let him drive your car without informing them first, you won't be covered.

Are you sure it isn't restricted to a 5 year period regarding loss of license?

I am with Suncorp and have lost my license within 5 years, and this is noted on my policy. The difference is that my excess is a whopping $1600 until that suspension is 5 years old (Which will be December this year) where it will be back to around the $800 mark.

I generally found Suncorp quite good, in that they were one of the only Insurance companies to not spit the dummy at a loss of license. They will still insure you but the excess goes skyward.

My mate (wink wink) was driving along the Western Freeway (eating one of those little variety packets of corn flakes) not really taking much notice of the speed and got done doing 108 in an 80 zone. 250 bucks and 4 points.

When the orificer asked me (oops I mean him!) whether he had any reason for doing such a speed he was tempted to say that he didn't want to go any faster because he was worried he'd spill his cornies.

Now, you know you're going to have to re-enact that for us with an in car camera... Perhaps at Willowbank or Qld Raceway. Remember to leave your visor up! :)

I lost mine many years ago and they didn't care anymore after 5 years. Same deal on excess too. I have also heard similar things from other companies but Suncorp was definetly five years.
