I am just about to purchase a brake upgrade kit for The VZ SS, has anyone had any good or bad experience with the PBR Upgrade? The Upgrade I am Looking at Consists of the Following:

2 x 330 mm front slotted rotors
2 x PBR C4 calipers
2 x 280 mm rear slotted rotors
2 x PBR calipers for 18 mm rotors
4 x Stainless steel braided lines
4 x Bendix Ultimate Pads

All for around $1300.

Thanks In Advance. :D

Thats of ebay isnt it?? They are off HSV's when they upgrade to the better brakes at the factory and can be found a LOT cheaper.

The only differance to what you already have is the 330mm front rotors and putting some slots in the rears. You have C4 calipers already (C5 is HSV/Corvette fronts). Rear calipers are $30ea and your just replacing your existing ones with the same things. The Braided lines are worthwhile but overall that package is almost the same as what you have.

Look for the PBR PK1 kit
330x28mm front rotors
C5 Calipers and adapters
315mm rear rotors (ventilated)
Rear Adapters
New calipers (still the same but painted red)
PBR Pads (go buy some ferodo's)
Braided lines
$1900 from Repco (you need to bargin them down to that price)

All I can suggest is that you do a search, I've done the upgrade on my WH and others have done their own cars and posted threads about it.

I didn't think that V8 VZs were any different in the braking department, so the details should apply to you?

I think I also posted my problems with my PBR kit's shudder that it developed (I believe PBR have revised their kits?)

I'm with VooDoo - that kit is replacing a lot of what you have with the same items. Spend the extra $600 and get the PK1 kit.

$1900 from Repco (you need to bargin them down to that price)

Seeing as you're in Sydney MRVZSS, Liverpool will do the kit for $1,900 if you ask them. :)

Cheers,

Just fitted this kit.PBR PK1
In a word “fantastic” :D :D
It feels as though I just have to slightly touch the brakes now around town.
Then when I jump on em, man do they stop.
This helps no end with a heavy car like the tonner and tools etc in the back.
Do it, you will wounder why you put up with the stockies for so long.
