Well guys, I have had the Coupe 4 for 10 days now and love it more every time I get in. The exhaust sounds so much better than it did on my VX Clubby, the car looks awesome from every angle and while it isn't the quickest HSV for sale it still goes real hard ... especially in the wet ( not that we get much of that!! ) Grip is just awesome, seats are comfy as, no idea what the stereo is like yet ... just been enjoying the music that is LS1. No mods as yet, will just enjoy it as is for a while and have a play down the track a bit.

I have wanted a Monaro since they were released but kept putting it off, to be sensible, but when I kept reading that it may be no more, or worse still ... it may be designed and built by the Yanks ... I decided it was time to move before I miss out altogther. Have put some pics in the Coupe gallery but will post them here also. If you have seen them twice ... sorry, can't help myself.

Cheers, Nick :D :D :D (That what I have looked like for the last 10 days!!)

Well I actually haven't ... but I am assuming that on a wet road the extra power of other HSV's isn't going to be much use. Actually I am looking forward to having a drive in the wet just to see how much grip there is, but yes, you got me, haven't actually experienced that one first hand yet. But I will be sure to let you know when I do ... should hopefully be this year some time ???

I have only ever seen them in silver. Black really is the best colour.

Congrats on the purchase.

not true Nick - when you get the opportunity on a wet country backroad, you will be amazed :D

not true Nick - when you get the opportunity on a wet country backroad, you will be amazed :D

I was referring to the fact the the RWD models can't use all the power in the wet so having 297+KW instead of 270 KW in the Coupe 4 won't mean much, I reckon the Coupe 4 would actually be quicker in the wet ...

Are we agreeing here or am I confused ...

hehe...we agree 4 sure - I read your original post too quickly Nick - I read "other HSV's" as "the HSVs" - a world of difference - my apologies :)

Almost every car dominating the timeslips database is a LS1 and almost all of them had less than 270 kw in stock form. ;)

So in other words. It's a LS1 (check), two doors (check), not many around, looks different and tough (check) and is all wheel drive (check). Nick, you're driving a top car!! :burnout:

Saw two black Coupe 4s on my way to work this morning. Might have been the same twice not sure. But they both looked bloody awesome. It is mighty tempting to upgrade to one. Would like to know if they will get the LS2 though...

Hey Nicks , you are going to have trouble keeping out of that thing ,the ks clock up damn easy. Problem is you get spoilt & dont even want to drive the work ute. Thats in my case any way. But once the ks get up time to trade for a newbie. Wet weather driving on country roads is awsome awd gives excellent feed back and builds confidence. I still cant imagine a maloo r8 vz in the wet it would be hair raising to say the least. :p

Thought that may have been the case ... no apologies needed !! My wife has an Avalanche, guess I do on the weekends too, so was well aware of the awesome grip they have in wet. Now just can't wait to try it with a little less weight and a lower centre of gravity ... should be unreal.

A guy who works near my house at panel beaters has a red Coupe4, the other day it was mildly wet on the roads and he came out of the side street and proceeded up the road, he floored it and it launched hard with no wheel spin at all! ;)

Looks fantastic Nick. It's like a GTO with a touch of Senator and some mean pumped out guards for good measure :) It doesn't get much better than that.

Just curious, any idea if they've got plans for an M6 version?

Doesn't look likely any time soon, it seems they will have a new gearbox (eventually) but it won't go into anything before VE at the earliest, and all the signs are pointing to no VE 2 doors, so for now it looks like AWD 2 door may be a very limited thing ... which is fine with me

Nick, if only i knew how to post a bloody picture here i would, imagine yours red with roof and sat nav and HSV CP4 on the number plate and there it is. It would be a little louder too ! read my previous post re time to do some work on the coupe. I previously had a very quick senator and was missing the power. Thanks to the brock shop here in brissy and a new exhaust from the cats back and a neat 20% power increase it is great. Love the looks it gets, went in the HSV club run today to springbrook (brissy) and it was a lot of fun up the mountains. I have 5k on mine now and it is starting to loosen up even more, i feel better every time i drive it.

Mate enjoy it, they are a blast and yes i have driven mine in the rain and unlike the senator it actually launches of the line without the 355 PZ's spinning a bit

Hi NickS, Welcome to the world of V8 AWD, not the fastest for sure - but certainly the quickest from A to B, better still when the roads are winding or wet.

Just curious, what made you go for this over the GTO?

Three reasons; 1) Limited numbers 2) IMO it looks better, not that the GTO has anything wrong with it 3) AWD ... gotta say, the LS2 made me stop and think for quite a while, but now I have it I am sure I made the correct choice.

Cheers

Looks great MrC4, love the plates !! What else did you have done to get a 20% power increase? I am pretty new to the technical side of things but seems an edit is the first choice and then an exhaust from the cats back ... and I think everything else gets a bit tricky with the AWD's. 20% increase sounds pretty damn good though  Congrats anyway, I you love yours even half as much as I love mine you must be one happy chappy :D

nick, thats about all i did i was really lucky even the guys were surprised by the improve, pm me your email address and i will send you a copy of the dyno and info on the invoice. where i really noticed the increase was on the take off. I thought it was a bit boggy when i first got it but now i am wrapt. Have you read about the guy in melbourne who put the blower on ? give mine a few more thousand clicks and that will be next. Like you i thought about the GTO but i follow one in to work nearly every day and i dont know call me biast but there is just something about the squat look of the 4 and thats before you take it in to the mountains.

By the way love the black, my senator was black and i must admit when it was clean nothing looked better then about 3 minutes after the dust settled, ah well you'll see :)
