 got my resinator fitted yesturday , as i was defected for my cars exhaust being too loud, i have to get it under 90DB , so how does it sound ?
in a word STOCK  , i hate it the only roar i get is from the induction not exhaust rumble or roar just a slight huming :bash: it doesnt feel like its lost power at all but all that beautiful v8 sound is gone :bawl: . it has to get tested at the Police station , and i have NO doubts it will pass , but if i have my way it might just be gone 2 hours after it pases, as far as i am concered $75 and 1 point is worth that beautiful v8 rumble , roar and crackle. if i cant change it back i may have to buy a cd player

I thought that one through before removing the resonator on my car. What I did was cut the resonator out and attached some flanges to allow me to swap from straight through pipes for the nice V8 note to the resonator if need be. That way it doesn't cost an arm and a leg every time you get defected and need to quieten the thing down.

A mate of mine got done last weekend a day after he spent $700 on a twin 2.5 into 3 inch system. It had no mufflers and one rear res and it sounds awesome. He's got to take it to the cop shop to get it tested, we just told him to stuff some steel wool up the tailpipe on the day.....do you reckon it'd work?
Anyways, let us know how you go!

If you stuff steel wool in it will work. The way to keep it in is to drill a hole in each pipe. Stuff the s/wool in then some long (self-tapers as long as diam of pipe) screws to keep it in. I fitted mine where the chrome tip meets the pipe in case any questions asked it was to hold tips on. After the pass, stop around the corner, remove screws & drive away. The wool blows out.
Note: dont drive it too much with the wool in at high RPM. It will blow out any muffler or a weak point in the system.
Dont put too much in. Try a bit at a time untill you think it sounds stock..

I recently fitted a resinator to my ute after a couple of years with a 2.5 inch dual system with only two mufflers, i can't believe i drove around for so long with it like that. The noise and vibration just got to annoying. With the resinator in, the car is much smoother to drive.
It has a nice clean note when accelerating hard through gear's(had the missus do a couple of drive by's)might need a new clutch now though  I was a little worried it would take away the note at the tips all together but i'm really happy with the outcome.v6 what system do you have?I actually considered what brute did,but after hearing it with the resinator in i don't need too. It's a pity they don't come from the factory like mine is now.

I forgot to mention it's a 5.0..... Setup is twin cats into twin 2.5 pipes then into single 3 and single resonator..no muffs. The bloddy thing sounds awesome and there's no drone!

I had the same sort of system fitted recently. Drove it around for a week with no rear res and it was drone city from 80-110. It sounded hell tough though! Got the rear res fitted a week later and it was a good compromise, still loud at WOT and nice and quiet on the highway.

Drop mufflers and retain Reso?...been there..done that..too too loud...the point driven home when PT was unable to finish a dyno run due to noise levels.....but did it sound the goods :) ..and gained some on the 1/4 at the time..........although much is dependant on your extractor set-up...rumour mill has it that a set of quality Di Filippo's up front will enable you to set your car up in just this fashion.
