Anyone know the top speed of a stock LS1 before and after edit ??

Just chasing an rough estimate.....

had mine a vyIIsv8 m6 upto 245 and still accelerating with a 3" cat back only ran out of road by the way that was done in the territory hehehe

Std they only go to 210 because of the rev limiter, after edit app 250-260 is possible.
In the States the LSI has been recorded at 270 km/h. N/A

Hi all, When I got my VYSSII a few months ago I had to test her out.
put it this way when Sh@t started to fill my jocks I looked at the speedo
215 k/ph and climbing a hill at that.

only thing not standard are the rims and parking lights.....

the utes are speed limited to 210, edit will remove that.

Only the utes are limited, not the sedans, and pretty
sure it isn't the rev limiter that stops them it is
a fuel cut off.

No prior to the 4.11s, I've only recently got up to 200 racing a Beamer but it wasn't revving extraordinarily high. I reckon it would get fairly close to doing 240, because 3.46 to 4.11 at 120km/hr there is only 300rpm difference

Only the utes speed limited, it was Motor PCOTY 2003, and the Monaro got 270, and an SV8 got 265

not that i condone speeding on public highways but i took the vy ss sedan till its "cutoff"which was way above 210

it's definitely a fuel cut of some sort as it's quite aggressive when it does cut out .. oh well :bash:

My old VX SS with extractors and twin 2.5 inch system would pull just over 220km/h and my current VX Clubby 6 speed will pull past it's 250km/h on the clock to what i would guess to around 255km/h rather easily. Tyre size, auto or manual and diff ratio's will vary all your speeds. Also there is approx three different diffs avaliable factory depending on application.

My stock VXSS M6 which I bought new, and sold 3 years later, I saw 255 on the digital speedo and it stopped, but the RPM needle was still slowly increasing around the 5800 mark, so wish I had a GPS at the time. 0 to 200km/h took no time at all, it's just the last 50+ km/h in 5th which took a fair while to wind up. Got there in the end. It's was moving thou doing 70+ meters per second!!!

when my VX SS was stock i did the same, but backed off at 248 on the digital speedo, i was unconfortable above 200kph to be honest.... just really pushed myself.

even at 248 it was still accelerating at about 1 kph ever 2 seconds.

my stock m6 vu ss cut out was 210 was scarey to hit it for the first time after edit and the rest of the bolt on mods 255km/h not sure if it had much more in it slowerd down after i hit that

Took mine off the clock and wasn't watching the rev so hit the limmiter in 5th :( ... but 6th was off the clock and still going...mines tuned, extractors, exhaust, CAI, so-on....also had a S/charged VS GTSr hit 245 in 5th but the speedo turned off after 255, although we hit 5000 rpm in 6th...not sure what we were doing...pretty blurry tho...

what rev limiter....only the utes are limited not monaro, sedans etc

My old auto VX11SS ran past 220 on the speedo (not the digi one) and kept on pulling very nicely till I decided enough was enough. The R8 has seen just the other side of 240 and it did it easy, felt like there would be another 20-30 kmph left but I wasnt willing to find out as I do like me licence.

Stock VXSS Auto with standard diff pulled 244 on digi speedo before I got a tap on the back. Still had some left but once over 210 was an uncomfortabely slow climb. EX Vic chaser and still has the "speedo checked calibration" sticker on windscreen.

Oh and before you ask...it was done on the Stuart Hwy, between Alice and the Devils Marbles in the N.T

Mine gets up there fast now and had it at 243 but dies down because of the 3.9 diff gears.
Passenger was freaking out so I had to slow it down.
Not much more in it though...my guess another 10 at best.

Over 250 on an early morning run up the north road from Alice shame the speedo stops at 250,nice to do once don't need to do it again.

Not an LS1 I know, but just for comparrison.
An M6 VZ R8 will do 200 in 4th & winds off the 260 speedo as the shift chime goes off in fifth, or so I hear :nyuk:. 240 in 6th is only 3800rpm apparently.;)

Did 255kph in a burnout the other day at WSID :headbang: (on new ET radials pumped up too high) but the tacho kept going up a bit higher probably 265kph- so i think the data for VSS stopped increasing for some reason.

Mine takes 12.0s to 190kph at WSID on drag tyres. 250kph would come up in about 1km and 22 or so seconds- but after that at a rate of a bit under 15seconds per km it would take about another 45s to reach a true max speed, 4km minimum is a hell of a long way to get to 280 or so kph. Doing 77metres per second and needing maybe 1km to slow to a stop?? Much safer to just do this on Playstation.

Pretty sure i had my stock VY1 SS Sedan at nearly 250 on the speedo in the NT.
After a couple of mods, twin 2.5" zorst, mcai, pacemaker tri y's and a bit of a tune it got just off the speedo. Had a log of it hitting 255 at about 5500rpm in fifth and the revs kept climbing to a bit over 5700 i think, maybe a tad more.
I am yet to try with an otrcai and a better tune but will do and take a GPS along. Car won't pull at all in sixth at those speeds.
