I'm seething with envy here. Sydney = $2000+ for unmodded Monaro and 20 years experienced clean record driver.

I am unsure if it made any difference but I have an 11 year history with WFI, have 2 vehicles currently insured with them and my parents farm and everything on it is insured through them. My ute & bike are on the farm policy.

I am also an HBF member (Health and Home/Contents Insurance) and have been for a long time but not sure if that makes a difference either. Probably not though as loyalty means nothing these days.

I pay about $200 more for a $40 000 04 VZ ss Man ute (with Western QBE). That is with the youngest driver being 35yrs and a full NCB. Is it something to do with the SS or what? I will be making a phone call tomorrow I think!!

Shouldn't make any difference really :( its not and HSV which you pay a premium for ss is only an upgraded sv8 like seats and bodykit :D

I'm 51 and I have 60% No claim bonus and with Wesfarmers Federation Insurance I pay $795 and no excess .Why so cheap? Probably because I am an old fart that works for the Wesfarmers Group so we get preferential rates :D

I have always found Western QBE to be the best when insuring cars.

$880 a year. 30k coverage, 60% lifetime no claim bonus protection, $100 excess and free glass.

Only condition is people under 25 not allowed to drive.

WFI are good for house and contents!

That strange because the WFI policy I have got has all that plus no excess and 70K coverage for my VZ Monaro with mods. Two years ago the wife pranged my 3 Month old VY SS causing $13000 damage and the Falcon she collided with was wrote off and my renewal for the SS was still only $695 ( bout $100 cheaper than the Monaro). The only restriction on the policy is drivers under 25 have to pay an excess which is on a sliding scale up about $500 for a 17 year old. I know i get a 10% discount but that still not a bad deal which I couldn't match elsewhere.

You do have a good deal and I am sure if i lived near you I could get close to the same.

Unfortunately I live in a southern suburb that is well known for anti-sociable behaviour and I only have a carport. Still we are better of than most! :D

EDIT: I am 35 and FYI Plonkerchops, I have been a good boy for many years now! Just cause you couldn't drive out of site on a dark night!  :D

Unfortunately since having the ute Ive collected a couple of speeding fines( mostly $50 no demerits)...the pearler being between 30 & 40 k's over the limit.....long story...
Nevertheless Western QBE wouldnt insure me at all.....
Hope you guys remember your duty of disclosure
My current insurance company ( RAC ) didnt even flinch when I told them and only increased my premiums cos Id moved areas

As I said I would do in my last post I rang WQBE to find out why I paid nearly $200 more for my SS ute insurance compared to a VYII SV8 (Same year 2004). Basically the answer was that the ute is considered to be a higher risk (They must go faster!! lol) than the sedan. This I think is particular to WQBE as I rang RAC and they were around $700 for an agreed sum policy. I decided to stay with WQBE because they offer new for old replacement for the first 4 years if the car is a write-off, AND they decided that in order to keep me happy (as I have both my motorbike and another car with them) refund me $170. So needless to stay I am pretty happy with the outcome and am happy to recommend WQBE to anyone that cares to listen... :D

For the car, just this year. Before that I had company cars for a long time, this one's a novated lease. My house has always been insured with them though.

I think you will find that they consider a ute a sports car cause its got 2 doors. I remember my mate whos got a XR8 ute is in the same situation.

I am with Suncorp, 35yo with perfect driving history. 2002 Monaro cv8 paying 800 odd @ 66 month. I also have my Soarer with them at a similar price. The monaro is insured for $47000 however I only paid $40000 with 20Klms on the clock.

Sounds reasonable, although hardly fair. You know some people do actually use utes for work and to cart stuff in :D Slightly different to a BMW M3 or the likes...

Just a bit of a follow up on the Monaro insurance....

28yo
60% NCB

As I said previously I was quoted:
2002 Monaro CV8 Manual
Insured for $42,000
WFI $1035
HBF $1180

I purchased a 2003 V2 SII Monaro CV8 Manual yesterday so I figured I would just go with WFI based on the previous quote. Suddenly the quote jumped to $1646 (as opposed to $1035 for 2002 model).

I figured I would try HBF again and they quoted me $712 :) Better still I went for the policy where you nominate drivers and got it @ $591 :D

$45,000 (agreed value) = $591.90 (12 months)
$200 basic excess
No drivers under 21
For drivers who are not on my list 21-27 = $1000 excess or over 27 $500 excess. I figure thats the incentive I will give to any of my mates who want a drive not to bend it :)

Im having to do the run around at the moment to get insurance cover for my ute now that its supercharged.

Currently with RAC till this friday (they told me they couldnt cover me anymore) car is insured for $39000 and paid $1650pa for the average mods etc. they just wont cover a 21yr old with a supercharged v8. 55%ncb

So i rang Shannons, they cant cover me due to driving history. (never had an accident, just driving infringments)

Just Cars will cover car for $1600pa but only $32500 Agreed value. Rating 2. and thats with my new engine, blower, big brakes etc. Not worth it for only $32500, better off taking the new engine out and having someone knock it off. Would be better off, than if some low life steals as it is now.

If i dont have any luck ringing around tomorrow, I'll have to go with Just cars and hope that no bastard ever steals my car.
