Was thinking about a few things I've been lucky enough to be able to do over the years, including going on cruises.

So I thought it would be interesting to find out what experiences others have had.

Just recently came back to Holden, but spent 18 months in an XR6T.

Attended some great cruises with a great bunch of people. Highlights were:

Cruise to Bathurst
Cruise to Hunter Valley incorporating the Putty Rd
Cruise to Bateman's Bay

Aside from forum cruises, a trip to the Gold Coast for NYE via New England hwy was an eventful trip back in 2001 :)

Would love to do Tasmania!

Not sure if this is the type of Cruise you were reffering to, however my most awesome experience was a 5500 kilometre cruise this time last year from Paris to Lyon to Nice to Monaco for the GP, to Florence to Venice, a ferry ride to Greece and drive to the North of Greece then down to Athens, ferry to some of the Islands and eventually another ferry back to Ancona in Italy to drive to Rome and catch a flight. (even drove around the Arc-de-Triumph in Paris and drove through the centre of Athens and Rome in peak hour and lived to tell the tale)

Would have loved to do it in the Lux-O-Barge however a 2.0 HDI Peugeot 307 had to do and just quietly it had no problem cruising at 150 on the European motorways getting passed by anything ranging from Ferraris to clapped out FIAT Puntos. Avg fuel for the trip was 8.1 litres per 100kms average speed was around the 56km/h mark and MAX speed was 192km/h according to the speedo or 178 according to the GPS.

Aside from the Logistics of Getting the Barge over to Europe, after driving through some of the European villages and cities I am glad I had something that would fit!!

WHEN I win Tatts I will do the same trip with a few added extras, but will do it in an M3. All I need to do is start playing Tattslotto for that to happen, does anyone know this weeks numbers???

For anyone that has considered such a trip I cannot reccomend how awesome an experience it is. Much easier than anyone would think. The thought of this still excites me that much my hair stands on end and I would have to say was one of those overwhelming experiences which I will never forget.

As Jim Carey once said... "Trust me I'm a Limo driver!!!!"

Hehe... I've done a few cruises in my time as well with Grey Funnel lines. Did lots of exotic Asian/sub-Continent/Pacific ports, some you have probably never heard of, or wouldn't want to visit.

I wouldn't recommend it either.

Anyway, no, that's not what I meant (to state the obvious...) :D

You're a game man! well done!

On a recent trip to Rome, Just being a passenger in a taxi (during peak hour) scared the CRAP outta me! :D

I spent a week driving in & around Rome a few years ago. At first I was a bit apprenhensive about being constantly surrounded by Fiat's, Lambretta's & motorcycles, but after a day or two adopted the local custom - which is to simply ignore every other vehicle on the road & drive as though you own the road. The slightest hesitation or pause & you have no chance of getting anywhere. Got a brand new lease car (a Peugeot 406). Was vey impressed with it.

Peugeot Open Europe rocks!!! Thats what we did with the 307. Picked it up from a dealer in Courbevouie in France with 3kms on the clock and dropped it off in Rome 25 days later with 5500kms on the clock. Nothing like running a brand new car in at a constant 150km/h on the Motorway for 500+kms straight!

Some of the best Trips ive been on are ones to races. I races jetskis and now bikes, and trips around the State and especialy Interstate are heeps of Fun. We usaly go in groups and you always hook up with others along the way. Most of the time we all take up entire Motels ,it Awesome, and the racing is fun to.
Only down side is towing trailers, Oh well could be worse.
Another cool trip was when I raced in the US we did a road trip from LA to Vegas, then to Lake Havasu and on to Parker, then back down good old Route 66 back to LA. One great time was had by all.
Europe sounds cool as well, nothing more fun than a road trip.
Cheers
Dan

Again overseas but had a mate living in LA so I flew over, we hired a car and drove from LA to San Fran than East through Yosemite National Park until there was so much snow and ice we had to turn around and go back (no chains) so headed south and then out through Death Valley to Las Vegas and then back to LA from there. From memory it was something like 3500 kms in about 5 days ... great fun, just wish I could have done it in my car. Otherwise have some family in Orange and the drive over the Mountains on Bells Line of Road and then out through Bathurst to Orange is always a nice one too.

Hell, I like driving to the shops !!! :D
