Anyone read the article in Hot Rod magazine on GenIIIs? Hot Rod have always been a supported of GenIII engine, but it *appears* to have a bit of an "exclusive" stigma in the USA because teh alloy engines only really appear in the 'Vette and GTO [ although millions are sold in trucks and SUVs in cast iron ]
Anyway, the interesting bit was talking about using cast-iron blocks for REALLY high horsepower applications .. and also NOT using alloy GenIIIs for drag racing specicially because of the "thin" cast-in liners. The suggest buying a LS7 with pressed-in liners.
Oh .. and they also briefly mentioned NEVER rebuilding a GenIII without using torque-plates ... which incedentally the factory don't when they build them!!! Nice to see where all our problems come from!!!
Despite all that quite a good, positive article.
