;) Don't think I'm allowed to say..

It's going to be that, not like the damn TT36 concept photoshop done by motor (heh look at the windscreen.. black.. to hide fruity white interior and pink - thanks motor)

Its hard to tell from the pic but the front doesn't look much different. Its definately a new VE? I don't mind the Motor photochop. Guess we will have to wait and see.

That looks like the previous Monaro model.

I base this on the headlights and spotties.

Check the mirrors and bonnet line, doesn't match any vt platform car I could find

remember the picture of the vt getting around with the dual exhaust and pumped guards? thats what it looks like to me

it looks like an elephant sat on a VT-VZ (vy-vz mirrors, vy bonnet, monaro headlights) , causing one headlight to be bigger than the other and making the bottom half of the monaro front bumper change colour and go wonky.....

juzza
15-06-2005, 10:11 PM
The bumper is similar to coupe 4, only the hole is at the very bottom, headlights have a weird BMW style shape, car looks a bit wider..

Makes sense to have the car look similar to the VT platform as the utes and Monaro won't be out for another year (don't want those looking dated me thinks)

It's not the same picture, look at the mirrors, look at the headlights (more rounder) that pumped VY does NOT have spotties

HRT433
15-06-2005, 10:24 PM
- mirrors look a little different, probably from when it was cut out of the background
- headlight have been added later...gimme 5 mins I'll do the same thing
- the front bar on your pic has be photoshopped, the centre is not centred, not straight, and the contrast is wrong

i guess then it must be coincidence that all the reflections on both images match...

you could tell us where it came from...

well, i would say the giveaway would be the lightpole reflection on the bonnet, looks the same to me.

just been photochopped i would say.

Looks very similar to me. Shadows on the bonnet are identical. Nice pickup HRT433. I think the "VE" pictured has been severely fiddled with. ;)

True, but think back over the years,at the end of every current shaped commo, just prior to the new shape,Holden seems to give clues on what the next shape looks like.
ie
VL similar to VN
VR/S similar to VT
and now perhaps VZ to VE???

Food for thought.

juzza

Yeah it is a LHD, probably an export (why else would they be using LHD?!) could be the new Pontiac GTO suspension or something, make it look like a VY so no one gets suspicious

SteveK
16-06-2005, 11:46 AM
That is one bad photo-chop. Someone has taken that tubbed VY image, tried to superimpose the monaro lights and lower air intake and then applied a filter over the top to make it look enlarged. Good attempt, bad execution.

Even that smaller version shows the superimposed lower bumper air intake as being a darker black than the rest of the car. Some subtleties a true photoshopper would take into account.

I call shennanigans.

All done with mirrors. Look at the number plate & caption on the photo. :)

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this the same car clearly marked as being LHD? Number plates are the same

Mate, you've had too much secret sauce I think :)

You could come up with a new exhaust for it too.

That first pic is a VT generation body with a Monaro front end. Nothing new there.

Email it to me on xlr8v8@ls1.com.au and I'll put it up on Haroc's server.

Here's the pic Rob took .... It looks similar to the previous VY/VZ shelled test mule with the twin sets of pipes out the back. Also looks like the fuel filler point has been moved upward, suggesting the tank now sits in the boot ala Monaro-style ..... goodbye bootspace! :(

correct me if i'm wrong but isn't the VE gunna be a complete new body shape because all of these pictures are based on the current body shape and therefore you would have to think that none of them reflect the new VE.

Danv8
19-06-2005, 01:03 PM
Yeah the VE new body, suspension, interior and bits and bolts.
They are using the VY-VZ shells for the test mules.

Can anyone tell if the the Mule on the previous page of posts has the same suspension as the VT-VZ, you can see a few things under the car, just wondering if anyone knows anything about this?

I've heard that the fuel tank will now be positioned in front of the rear axle, similar to the BA Falcon. The Monaro can live without boot space, as it's a niche vehicles, but not a family Commodore.

HRT433
19-06-2005, 05:08 PM
this talk about the loss of boot space, ok so the monaro lost space when the tank was moved to meet US regulations for the GTO, this was because it was not originally design for this tank position. With the VE being all-new, could we assume that they can better position the fuel tank (in fron of the rear axle) allowing for a significantly larger boot than the current Monaro/GTO has ended up with?

Further to the above pic...

there were two exit pipes YES!! but they were only single tip so maybe they were the TT6 or std V8 5.7l....

The twin twin tips may be the 6.0l

Just my .02c

the single twin tips may be for a lower spec version of the 6.0L V8 and the twin twin tips may be for a higher spec version of the 6.0L V8. I don't think we will see the LS1 in any version of the VE Commodore.

I love all this wild speculation. As some people have touched on, this car pictured (the LHD vehicle not the doctored pic) is clearly a test mule of some kind, most likely for the 6.0 LS2 or perhaps even the crazy engine they're putting in the top-of-the-line Corvette (ZR-1? can't remember).

Rumour is that the HSV GTS might be getting this motor and with those quad-exhausts, well they look just a tad too crazy even for a basic HSV, although I could be wrong.

Interestingly, to ME the rear guards look slightly pumped, pretty much from the rear door back, indicating this might be using some advanced running gear either from the next VE or even VE HSV GTS.

Behing LHD, I'm sure Holden will love the chance to export the beast as they are now. I'm sure the Saudis will dig cruising at 270km/h (+plus+) in a 4-door sedan comfort!

So while all this wild speculation about the VE is great, the car appears to be a VE test mule built out of VY body bits.

I've seen old pics of LH Toranas with VB Commodore bits stuffed under them; they look spastic!

That was already well established in this thread, and the "speculation" ended almost 5 months ago. Please look at the last post dates before replying to very old threads.
