Hi all -
Got home yesterday to find a nice surprise in the mailbox!
A quasi-"Thankyou" letter from Holden, gushing on about how the Monaro was a labour of love and how proud they are of it etc etc, plus it had a really nice Monaro keyring enclosed.
Is this something that all Monaro purchasers have gotten, or is it a VZ thing... Very nice keyring (heavy, thick pewter style).. Was quite impressed. Haven't seen them for sale anywhere....
Plus the new "breakdown" card I got appears to be an "ultra" assistance card - the same as the ones they hand out to Caprice owners... Is that new to VZ?... Not that it's really worth anything extra (ie I wouldn't pay for it), but it was a nice little extra.
Cheers.

I got mine......
Nice little container and everything.
Makes me feel special.
Trick is always have the Monaro lettering exposed when playing with your keys - chicks go wild! :D

All Monaro owners should be issued with one of these keyrings.
The early ones (Series 1 + 2) only came in cardboard boxes - not the fancy tin like they do now.

Is that the one written by Neil Dowling (I think).... Big thick black book all about how it was conceived, designed & built etc.. One of the best automotive books I've read in a long long time...

Same here. I got the keyring and the limited edition history of Monaro book. The limited one came with a Red dust cover and was released to the general public in a Blue cover.
Nice touch I must say and it's also nice to see that Holden are continuing with the gesture on later models.

Sorry, yes that's the same one (got the surname right!)...
Excellent book.. Reading it makes you wish you were there when they ripped the covers off it in the Sydney car show. Must have been a real moment.
Great read.

My missus doesn't need any reminding on how much I spent on it, so mine stays in the tin.

Sure does. Got it in the mail and wasn't expecting it. it's the little things that make it worthwhile.

That is true, but conversely if your keys go missing, you know why. Not hard to find a Monaro in the car park once you have the keys. Mine sits at home with the spares for now. Besides it's a heavy little piece of kit. Unbelted pants find it hard to stay up.
My friend had his SS keyring stolen when he was doing an insurance claim. Just they keyring, not the SS. I also had my MOTOR mag little keyclip thing stolen out of the envelope before it was dropped off in my letterbox. Apparently happens alot.
Cheers,
Steve

We've got a female Monaro owner here at work, Quicksilver CV8 and definitely hers. You wouldn't think of her as a 'ro owner.
Only other female I've seen with a 'ro has been a lady at our local shopping center, yet another quicksilver, but this one is a CV6.

I am a female monaro owner, everyone asks my husband how the car is going but (he could count on one hand the amount of times he has driven it ) he looks at me when they do and says, ask the owner there!!! Love it! :D , he does like it but he's a four wheel drive man!!!, There are another 2 women here ,midwest wa,that own a monaro also,(there are also some men owners too!!) their's are green and silver and mine is blue, we are all about the same age too, must mean something but I'm not saying what!!!
Nothing like driving a monaro !!!
Nice to see more lady monaro owners on this forum Miss Monaro

I reckon I've got a rarish one ( car that is). Friend of mine worked in Holden sales at a major dealer with two branches and said they'd never sold a Barbados Monaro. When I bought mine it was the only one I'd seen. Also said Monaros it's 60-70% auto.
So a 6-speed manual Barbados would be rare - rarer than the Turbine '03 or Pulse Red '04 CV8R. Mine was an in-stock (not ordered) car so I wonder if maybe it got put through at the end of a run of ordered Barbados GTOs to run the paint out or something?
Mind you I don't care - I have no intention of getting rid of it. And yes, you did get the keyring in the tin with a nice letter from Mooney and the Assist card with a SIII, so I presume with an SI and SII . I think I'd prefer the letter from Hannenberger - after all if Simcoe is the father, Peter's the uncle of the Monaro!
I've also had two surveys sent to me asking about dealer or car issues.
