Guys, the day is now full, sorry to everyone that didnt make it.
I have created a reserve list of 3 people, so if anyone drops out they get first preference.
I also have the option of booking a day in early december, so if there is enough demand i will organise a 2nd day for December as well.
Any takers for December??

G'day Ryan. Did I make it in? I see Dave put my name up(thanks for the SMS mate!!). Consider me a definate if that is the case.
Was at Eastern Creek on Saturday and the WRX crew were doing a skid pan day. Was good to watch. Some of those boys could really drive. Got me reminiscing........
Due to popular demand, i think im going to have to extend the day to 30 people. I will update the list in the mean time to reflect the 30 spots and the few extras i missed/reserved/etc.
Since we now will have 30 People, the price will drop to $170. Those of you who have paid, ill refund the difference back to you in the next few days.
Guys, can we start getting those payments through. I need to pay Aaron a deposit in the week. If you could all organise to send it through ASAP i would appreicate it.

Couple of quick questions:
1: Are helmets required for the day? I think i might have asked this before but a search resulted in nothing...
2: What do most people do for insurance for this type of day? Obviously insurance companies would look upon this as trackwork, so i take it most wouldn't insure you?
I know people say 'if you crashed just take it out onto the road and claim it happened there', but the reality is you could end up with some serious problems if you were caught doing this, and i expect 99% of the people making such statements probably wouldn't take their own advice in the event of an accident anyway.
So, and suggestions / comments regarding insurance would be appreciated.

At last check Helmets were not required. Im currently trying to get in Contact with Aaron McGill to confirm the helmets.
As for insurance, i cant give you a straight answer here. The event is covered for $20 Million Public Liability/Indemity Insurance, so if you fall over, get run over 10 times by a ford (God help us  ) I beleive your injuries are covered by the Insurance.
As for damage to the cars, that is at the discretion of the Insurance Co. We have only had one incident before, which i wont comment on for various reasons, however if you speak to "Car Lo" on here, he may be willing to shed some light. The event is generally very very safe provided you dont go doing anything stupid and follow the guidance of the instructors and anyone else volunteering on the day to help. The lay out of the skidpan is designed to be a safe environment to loose control of your car without putting yourself, your car, or spectators into any danger.
Hope this answers your questions mate, i dare say that the risk factor of this is mucccccch lower than that of a Track Day!!!

Doesnt matter mate, there is a few places around so if its closed we will just relocate somewhere else
Guys,
I just spoke to Aaron McGill today regarding the Skid Pan. When i asked him about helmets he basically said "If you have one, bring it along". He would prefer we bring them incase Eastern Creek decide to be painfull, however if you DONT have one, he is not expecting you to hire/buy one.
We may not need them on the day, but better safe than sorry. Also keep in mind that this isnt like WSID, you DONT have to wear a long shirt, jeans, etc. If its hot wear shorts and a Shirt, there is no dress code. Just bring a hat because when it gets hot out there, IT GETS VERRRRY HOT
If you have any questions before the day, just let me know. 0413-984-819.
Once again spectators are welcome, however it woudl really help me if i knew how many people to expect. Could you ALL let me know how many spectators you might be bringing with you ASAP.
Thx guys, this day will be a blast!!!! :D

Its crap mate. The watering system doesnt work there so you dont get a true skid pan experience. You wear the crap out of your tyres because your trying to slide on dry cement, etc
Eastern Creek is state of the facility and is well worth the wait. Ive only been dissapointed when ive used Oran Park.
BTW The Oran Park Watering System is a firehose that doesnt even reach/cover 1/4 of the skidpan area there.

Ok, sorry Ryzz, but I might drop out :( I will come though if we can't get another to fill for me. Rick is coming to do my car on Monday (showcar) and I'd rather put my money there.
I will offer my spot to anyone for $150, they can pay me direct as I've already paid my $170, and swap places with me. Who wants my spot?

Will there be a morning session with the pan Dry? Whilst wet is lots of fun a short stint on a dry pan would be good too. It is still slippery but you get to use some power as well.

Havent thought about that one Darren, i think they usually hit the water button at the start of the day and leave it that way all day.

As discussed on the phone
2 spectators around mid morning... See you there and I'll bring the extra zoom lens to catch those "oh my %$#@&^* god"! looks of astonishment on the drivers.

Hi Drew, I have a mate who would be interested... he has an RS liberty, so its not V8 territory, but its someone who i can vouch as not being a wanker, and he'll be 99% likely to fill the spot.
I'll forward you and Ryan his email addy so you can work it out. If anyone has an issue with him coming, make your gripe known now :P

No probs mate, just hope its the Turbo model as the Subies AWD system may leave him a little bored if he doesnt have enough power to overcome it. Will wait and see what Drew wants to do and go from there.
Just checked the weather for Sunday and it would appear that someone upstairs is looking after us. So come on, own up, who's been saying their nightly prayers to the Weather Man to keep Sunday clear?!?!?!?
Sunday : Fine. N/NE winds.

Now please do not throw stones at me when I turn up on my bike (coz the Munro is due for delivery in a fortnight). Purely as a spectator as I do not wish to throw a two wheeler on a skid pan for your enjoyment - like a fly landing on a spinning top.
ps: but a straight liner against those monsters Ryzz mentioned might be interesting ;)
Just coming down to meet you guys and see some good action!

 I had a hire car for the week in QLD last week Ryzz, after Febs kindly provided me with a copy of the skid pan DVD I thought of you once or twice
:driving: :burnout:
Ryzz - think Aaron will let passengers have a ride again? Last time they "sort of" allowed it, until I tried to jump on the skidpan with three passengers. Aaron commented "Geez, you blokes will try anything on!" before he kicked my mates out of the car.
Still got to do the skid track with 3 passengers though. My mates were playing corners in the back (unintentionally).

Hey Ryzz, any chance of getting a reciept for the event? My accountant tells me that I can salary sacrifice the cost of the course given that it's a leased car. Apparently the ATO will allow a deduction for "defensive driving courses" in leased/company cars. :D
Others may wish to check with their own advisors and/or company as to whether they can claim the costs of the course.
Perhaps Nick can give some "general" advice?

Pretty unlikely ...
The cost of your licence is not deductible, the cost of running your car to the extent that it is incurred in the course of earning assessable income is deductible. A driving course would only be deductible if the cost of it was incurred in the course of earning your income. i.e. The completion of the course led to the earning of assessable income ... it's a pretty difficult link to make.
In terms of your employer paying for it on your behalf, it then becomes a fringe benefit and in most instances would be taxed at an even higher rate. Don't want to bag your accountant but some accountants will claim anything on the basis that most of the time (with small things) you would get away with it, I have never seen anything that would lead me to believe that the ATO would allow this as a deduction. :(
Damn you ... I got my car as an escape from work

Please don't take anything that I've said as advice (I am NOT an accountant, infact at times I even have trouble counting above 10, with or without my shoes on). Please check it with the appropriate profrssionals in this area. Infact Nick has already pointed out that it would be highly questionable at the least.

Guys,
Just a heads up prior to Sunday with a few things to remember:
* Lunch - We will be having a BBQ Lunch (Sausages sangas) so bring money. I dont know how much it will be but guess $2 for a snag sandwich and $1 for a can of drink
* Fluid Levels - Aaron said just to remiend you guys to check all your fluid levels as he had someone cook their motor recently due to a lack of oil in the car  Im sure none of us are that stupid, but the reminder is there as well
* Tyre Pressure - When we meet at the Shell servo, make sure you check your tyre pressures. They should be a min of 36PSI Front & Rear, this should help stop excessive tyre roll and stiffen the sidewalls.
* Chairs/Hats/Sunglasses/Sunscreen/Etc - It looks like it will be a nice day, and going on previous experience, EC is either freezing cold, or boiling hot. So make sure you bring a decent hat & some sunscreen. A small fold out chair would be recommended as well so you have something comfy to sit on when watching everyone else.
* Have Fun - Anyone not seen having fun will be kicked out (they will be required to leave the car with me so i can make up for the fun they did not have  ).
* Helmets - If you have a Helmet, bring it. We may be asked to wear them if we have them. If you can get your hands on one easily then bring it just incase, if you cant then dont worry, it should be fine. EC has never enforced a helmet policy on the skid pan yet.
* Spectators - Spectators are more than welcome to attend, i will try and plan adequate food to cover for spectators due to the majority of people being very slack and not informing of spectator numbers!!!
* Smoking on the Skidpan :diddy: - Last skidpan day a certian ford rent-a-car was asked to cease the smoking of tyres on the skidpan as the smoke was wafting over turn one on the race track causing the Porsche guys to slow down expecting an accident :hide:  - There will be none of that this time around as the ford rent-a-car isnt present :bawl:
* Rental Cars - Those in the know understand the most fun on the skidpan can be had in a rental car. If you bring one you will be required to share it around for all to enjoy :D :D
* Last minute questions - Call me on 0413-984-819
* Cruising Info - Northern Beaches guys are meeting at Forest Way Maccas & 6:45 - Leave @ 7. Everyone else is making their own way and meeting at the Shell Servo on Great Western Hwy at 8AM SHARP - DO NOT BE LATE!!!!

Guys,
Have finally reached a deal with Eastern Creek through Aaron McGill inrelation to the compensation for not having the skid circuit (Figure 8) at the last skidpan day.
The total refund is $1600 that we are getting back from Eastern Creek. This works out to be $50/each. (Peber, $20 credit goes to your mate in the subie who only did the half day session).
Now you all have the option of:
A: Leaving the money with me, and using it as a $50 credit to the next skidpan day (Dates TBC).
B: If your not planning on coming to the next round of skidpan days, supply me with your bank details and ill EFT you $50 refund.
If you have any questions regarding this, please let me know.
