whilst looking up redbook, trading post and other websites i noticed that many of the VY SS series 1 and 2 go for say between $30000 and $36000 from a dealer
went to hunter holden today and they were trying to selling a 04 VY SS for $43,000.
must admit it did have leather interior unlike most the others for the mid 30's range.
but i was just wondering what price can i expect to pay for a VY SS at the dealers. seems to be prices flying everywhere

$43K for an '04 VY? Tell 'im he's dreamin'! I think they are flogging off 04 plate VZ SSs for that kind of money. I got my VYS1 SS for $36K well over a year ago (top nick, low K) but I don't think I'd be paying any more than about $31K for it now.
chiefy I purchased my Quicksilver VY SS with blue leather interior for $34,000. It is an 02' model and had 20,000kms on it when I got it (2 weeks ago). Compared to other VY's on the market this was a very good price from what I can see for a car with such low kms in perfect condition and leather interior.
Happy hunting.
Cheers,
Matt

I was offered $31000 wholesale trade last week for a 2003 Hot house green Series 1 SS Manual with leather and the car is unmarked. Have still seen the asking price in yards in Brisbane at $38999 for a series 2 with cloth trim. Hope that helps you

For $43,000 that's why it's still in stock.

$39995 buys an old stock runout 04 VY11 SS *NEW* with only a very small increase in pennies required to upgrade that to an old stock 04 VZ SS.........
the above prices being on road :driving: away.......
a little research goes a long way, however if it is a mint VY SS loaded with goodies your chasing then a pm sent the way of AussieTone would serve you well.....imho

Thanks for the compliment Mark. I must admit I have quite a few 'heated discussions' with the Minister of war and finances when it comes to the time I supposedly (ok so I do) spend on 'Kermie'. The term 'bloody perfectionist' comes up quite a bit from her as a car to her is something that gets you from A to B but then I guess I am not alone here as I imagine quite a few 'enthusiasts' on this forum experience the same difficulties.
My main trouble is I am not sure whether I want to sell the car or not. Some may say I am in a fortunate position given Veterans Affairs gives me GST exemption, Stamp Duty exemption and concessional registration every 2 years or 40000 km's but I can assure you if I had the option I would choose having my health back every time (ask any forum member who is a current or ex Defence member and I am sure they would agree). I only change them regularly for the ongoing warranty entitlements and peace of mind.
Thing is they currently want approx $7500 to get me into a VZ SS (without leather) and apart from the fact that the $,'s are a big issue I don't really see the value between the 2 cars. I don't drag or race mine but love a bit of 'spirited' driving and I suppose the bottom line is I love the bloody thing. I was also offered a swap from mine into a 04 VZ SV6 but am concerned how long I would be happy with it before regretting selling the LS1.
To summarise this long post (well longest I have ever done anyway) is that if a forum member was interested in buying mine I would look at it but I am not advertising per se. As for price I honestly don't know but am open to offers. I am not a rip off person and believe in a fair price, always have worked on the theory of treating others as I would like to be treated myself. However in saying that I am not totally stupid (although some may beg to differ) and if a dealer is giving me 31K given the condition of it I imagine it would the be advertised with a sticker price of mid 38k's.
Anyway, back on track, and my appologies if I have hijacked the origin intent of this thread, thanks Mark. It is very satisfying to realise that others notice the care you take in your 'pride and joy'
