View Full Version : Monaro Odyssey & Redhot deleted

Hey All
I have been advised by Holden that Monaro Exterior colours Redhot & Odyssey will no longer be available from build date July/August. The Red leather Interior is also being deleted across the exterior colour range.
Only one new exterior colour will be introduced, Fusion - very similar to Tiger Mica. I have been told that from July/August all Fusion and Phantom Monaro's will come with a Fusion (Orange) leather interior. No option of black will be available.
After a great deal of advice and input from this forum I ordered an Odyssey Monaro as I was hooked on the red interior. Now I am forced back to the drawing board (or this forum as it seems) to decide and advise of my renewed colour selection. See original thread.

I really did not want a black interior. This leaves me with only Fusion which I have not seen as yet. If anyone has any pics of a fusion interior please help!!!
Now the exterior - I did not want black as I do not spend a lot of time cleaning my ride - I have had a Tiger Mica VX and did not show marks like the black.
Now what???

Really?.. Hmm I wonder why... I wonder if it's because they're unpopular or if it's because they're reducing the production line complexities..
If true, this might be the beginning of a winding down..... More likely it's due to demand though. I've hardly seen any redhots out on the road - especially VZs.

What a shame! Odyssey Monaro's definitely look the biz.

I agree Chris, especially since I have spent the last month warming to the Odyssey...
Correct - the black interior will not be an option post July/August.
My source inside Holden had no explanation as to why... sorry guys..!

Geez, I hope thats not right, the red leather is great, the series 1 monaro had a flame leather, basically an orange.
Why can't we have the same colour range (ext and int) as the Pontiac ?

Thats nuts. Odyssey is the only colour that'd rev my crank other than Devil...

Funny thing is, my Crewy is redhot and when side by side with an odyssey Crewman the redhot looks the better. However the Monaro in odyssey looks that extra bit special.
Cheers
Chris.

Have a look at a Silver if you really wanted a dark grey (coz thats all an Odyssey is IMO) .... If I was you I'd go for a Devil Yellow ... but each to their own.

damn it! I was in the exact same boat. I was set on an Odyssey Monaro also cause I wanted red seats. Now that red leather is not an option, I think I might have to go Yellow exterior.

This surprises me. The least VZ's I see are the silver and dark gray versions.
Well Redhot is beginning to look really tired so I hope they bring out a newer red.
My current ride has orange leather interior, which I personally think looks heaps better than the cherry colour I've soon being described as red on other models. It's really not so orange but rather a lighter and richer shade of Red.
Everyone who's seen the orange on black interior of the Flame Monaro's have said they liked that match the best and wondered why Holden had ditched such a nice leather colour.
Real shame on the red as I was looking forward to a red VZ Series II Monaro with red leather interior. Is it just me or does Holden seem to be loosing the plot of late?

Yeah the flame leather sounds pretty terrible but in reality looks the goods. :) Id say it's more of a 'terracotta' than an outright bright orange. Maybe I am bias. :p

Next year colours for the Pontiac GTO go Fusion and Shanghai Red (current VZ colour). They call them Brazen Orange and Spice Red. The GTO is still being offered in Torrid (our Redhot). They are deleting Midnight Blue and Yellowjacket. I would say we will get what they get.
Anthracite interior is 'black'.

Thanks Mimo
I have put a call into Holden to try to find out if the new orange leather interior refered in my original post is in fact the same as the flame of a couple of years ago.
If it is, would you mind posting a photo of your interior??

I reckon the Orange leather will be similar to the Ochre leather they had on the Coupe4 show car a few years ago. Its more of a tan leather like the Ferrari's use. maybe its like the orange leather that the Nissan 350z has.
The colour of the seats wasnt really the main factor for me. I initially wanted the red interior cause I liked how the door trim has contrasting red suede which helps break up the sea of black. My mates VY2 Monaro has blue interiror and it looks sweet!

I ordered the red leather for the same reason. Now I am forced to re-order by next Tuesday site unseen if I go for fusion. Even my second choice colour, phantom has the fusion interior...

Fusion with Flame interior? That would not be cool, two totally different shades of orange. The black with flame would look the goods though.
Thanks Mimo

Thanks again Mimo - I dont think the fusion interior is going to be anything like the flame interior.
Has anyone heard if the fusion interior has been released into the States in the GTO? I understand the Fusion exterior is released but am yet to track down a pic of the Fusion Interior...
Time is running out.....

I searched around and came across the fusion colour which is called 'brazen orange metallic'.
Here's the link: New for Monaro 2006 (http://ultimategto.com/monaro24.htm)

Further details are in this link: 2006 GTO specifications (http://ultimategto.com/cgi-bin/statsexplorer.cgi?year=2006&f1=style+popgto+clrpaint+dtmatrix+vinmatrix+datapl ate+price)
It seems to be almost identical to exterior and interior of the GM GTO concept car produced by GM employees in 2004: link here (http://ultimategto.com/cgi-bin/showcar.cgi?type=show&pic=/carshows/sema04/04sema3000)

The following pic from this link here (http://ultimategto.com/cgi-bin/showcar.cgi?type=show&pic=/2004/04_00052_1)
The bright orange exterior features a new hood, fender, quarter panel, spoiler, front and rear fascia and rockers. The modified GTO is an "Employee Enthusiasm" vehicle, an internal volunteer program that gives younger GM engineers the opportunity to manage a concept car from start to finish.
Interior Color: orange
Visible Options: woodward concept, body kit, hood scoops
Owner: GM

Very large PDF download of GM lineup (and all colours) for 2006: http://www.gmfleet.com/us/acquiring/vehicinfo/summaries/2006/2006_GM_Car_Truck_Guide.pdf
The GTO specifications for 2006 (which is already posted above) is confirmed on page 48.

what I find really intersting is the increased power seat speed for easier rear seat access. Please oh please let this be true!

Devil CV8, yes it is (except for the interior HERCULES is right - thanks for the update).
I searched through a number of pages at ultimate GTO looking for the 'fusion' colour and realized I'd seen the Brazen Orange Metallic colour before. It looks strikingly similar to the GTO concept car which was produced by GM (younger employees).
To me the colour used for the exterior and interior of the concept car seems to match the Brazen Orange Metallic colour, known as fusion. http://ultimategto.com/monaro24.htm
I'm no expert on colours though. Which one seems closest to Brazen Orange Metallic, or are the above much different? Compare to colour guide 66U Brazen Orange Metallic.
