The following is giving me a headache for 1 ˝ months now & Holden cant find the problem because it does not happen when they have had the car in for service.
1. About once or twice a day when I lock the door with my remote, the horn beeps 3 to 4 times & the 4 door locks stay open. Even though all doors are closed.
2. Also I have the settings that when you put the car in drive or reverse the doors will lock automatically. Now it locks sometimes & not lock other times.
The car is 2 years old & I think I have faulty locks. The problem persists even with my spare key. The car is going back to Holden again next week.
Does any one now what the exact problem is so I can tell the experts at Holden what they should be looking at as I hate to get the thing back & they tell me it works perfectly fine.
Thanks

If it is an auto and you have set the auto lock to "on", it will lock only in drive. It sounds like that you have played with the customisation modes and have set a few things incorrectly. Just check the settings on "two stage unlock" & "Auto lock in Drive".
Hopefully this will help ;)

Thanks, but the settings havent been touched since the day I got it 2 years ago. Holden now dont wont me to touch the settings till they see it again next week.
I think the door locks are stuffed & need replacing. Just need it to play up in front of them.

What the car is trying to tell you that one of the doors/boot/bonnet is open. Check for a damage switch if not, you have a loose/severed wire somewhere.
We get this all the ytime at work.
Has any work been done to the car, ie stereo?

Probably a damaged/sticking door lock - had the same thing on my VY II and the lock was replaced under warranty by the dealer - now no problem (dealer was Suttons @ Arncliffe)

It is the electric locking. Mine sterted to do the same then the unit on the drivers door failed, it won't lock so the horn warns you the car is not locked. The lock playing up will fail completely then Holden will replace it under warranty.

General question to members.....Will leaving an interior light on do the same thing? Is there a light in the boot?

Had the same problem here with the drivers side door.... i found pushing the inside door handle against the trim would fix it (for the meantime anyway!)
Of course, i learned the hard way when I locked the door accidently by putting my arm on the window sill.... then finding i couldn't unlock the door (lift the lock back up) to get out =)

Thanks For the info guys.
I will be telling Holden Service Department the above info you have provided me.
Hopefully third time lucky, they can work it out & not tell me nothing is wrong with it.

There is a light in the boot, all lights should turn off automatically if left on for more than an hour, same as radio etc it is a safety feature that they have installed so the battery wont go flat and you can still start it. well that is in the manual by mamory on my VYII. :)

One of our work wagons had a similar problem, but not sure if it
was exactly the same as yours and my memory is vague as it
was about 12 months ago now. It was a metallic sticker under
the horn pad that was shorting out. Took it in to Holden and all
they did was rip the horn pad off and remove the sticker, took
the tech all of 2 minutes and the problem was fixed.

Well guys the car went in today to fix this problem with the horn going off when you lock it. Service guy said the Forman would be working on the car today to see if the problem develops with him, as this is the third time back.
After this there is nothing they could do.
I said, “Is that right, well have a look at this”.
I pointed the key towards the car, pressed the lock button (praying & hoping) & bingo the horn went off.
Customers giggling in the background.
Service guy tried it & it went off again. Then he walked up to it & opened the driver’s door & the horn went off once more making a racket. This time the Door Activated sign came on the display. After leaving it all day today, it will need to be taken back for a new module to be installed next week. Thanks guys.
P.S. Black 346 – You are correct. I also had the problem with the sticker under the horn pad setting off the horn. This all happened within the first 2 months of the cars life. The fix was to peel it off.

Had my VY Ser 1 in today for 45k service and they replaced my RH front lock/actuator under warranty. Mine occasionally would get stuck and cause the horn to beep as you described. It hasn't done it for a while though. The good thing was I didn't have to argue with them, they just did it. I assumed it was a common fault.
